To not take thyroid meds

I would like to know just what happens when a person stops taking their thyroid medication; I had a TT a few months ago. Like apparently alot of other people, I have lost medical insurance. I want to know literally what happens to the body once I quit taking the levothyroxine, and is it painful? How long before a person's body shuts down and coma happens?

Also ask the pharmacy if they have any programs you may qualify for. Ask all pharmacies. and even tell your doctor.....The doctor may know or recommend someone that may be able to give them to you at a low cost or not cost at all....

Don't be ashamed or afraid to tell them you can't afford them. Your life and those of your loved ones depend on it.

A human being will NOT live without thyroid hormone.  In other words you will die without it.  It won't be immediate. And you will likely feel so terrible that you will never let it go that long to actually die.  So I do not want to panic you.

But your body NEEDS thyroid.

Since you do not have a thyroid gland. You are totally dependant upon an adequate supply of thyroid hormone by taking medicine.

I'm not sure I can make it any more plain than that.

Most phrama; companies have "hardship" programs where they supply drugs for extremely cheap or free.  I am not sure what the qualifications are to recieve these reduced cost options but I do know they exist.
