Yes, I was a bit concerned about a larger hit in the am, so I think I will follow your thought and equalize my 2 doses. Thanks much
Thank you. You might want to keep your doses that same; for instance, you're currently on 60 mg, total for the day...... you might feel better if you did 30 mg in the morning and 30 early afternoon. By keeping the doses equal, you keep your FT3 level stable throughout the day and since FT3 is what "makes us go", your energy levels will be more uniform.
If you jump to 60 in the morning, you're going to get a great big "slug" of T3, then very little in the afternoon.
I'm glad to hear that you found a doctor who doesn't treat by TSH only and who will prescribe the Armour for you.
Oops, I didn't answer your ? regarding how much armour I am taking I take 45mg in the am and 15 early to mid afternoon w/a full glass of water. I think it will, probably, be increased later this week to 60 in the am and 15 in the afternoon. Much higher (equivalency-wise) from the 75mcg of levo I had been on for a couple of years - dosing, then, was based on TSH, only - from a couple of closed-minded doctors.
What's your current dose of Armour?
Thanks, Barb I will be seeing my (open-minded) doc later this week and get this thyroid in shape!
No, Armour has both T3 and T4 in it, so if you increase your dosage, it should bring up both FT3 and FT4. I think you might be confused. It's TSH that goes down when thyroid hormone levels are increased, not FT4. And your TSH is higher than the recommended 3.0, so you're still good.
I don't think you need to add levo, at this point, because you're still new to the Armour and you have a lot of room to increase that safely.
How much Armour are you actually taking?
