Hi there... We need to have the reference ranges for the T4 and T3, since reference ranges vary from lab to lab and we also need to know if those are Free T4 and Free T3 or if they are Total T4 and Total T3... they aren't the same tests and don't give the same information. All of that said, your father's TSH is extremely high and the thyroid hormone levels appear to be very low, indicating hypothyroidism.
What treatment is your father receiving for his bi-polar condition? Some medications can cause/contribute to hypothyroidism, particularly, those that contain lithium, which induces a decrease in production of thyroxine (T4 thyroid hormone) and/or the conversion of T4 to the metabolically active T3 thyroid hormone.
Has his doctor initiated any type of thyroid hormone treatment? If so, what treatment, dosage and how long has he been on it?
