Not sure what to do

Hello I am on antiseizure medication carbatrol for trigeminal nueralgia. When I take the full dose I get a pressure in my head and I start saying things backwards. My doctor told me I have to take the full amount cause it doesn't work right if i only take half the prescribed amount. What should I do take the medication or get a new doctor?

Thank you for your suggestions I really appreciated it. I did not know what to do, so I went to a chiropractic neurologist and he did some treatments with a lazer and that seems to be working well. I'm no longer on the carbatrol or dealing with it's side effects. I was initially scared of what to do because the side effects were so bad plus I was in so much pain that I couldn't even drink hot liquids and was on baby food more or less. He did one treatment and I could feel the improvement and then he did another last week and by this Sunday I was experiencing hardly any pain. I can drink hot liquids and crunchy food again. But I do appreciate your inputs in all of this. So thank you.

Supplement the medication with this pranayam and the side effects will be less.
Build up your timing gradually. If you feel tired or dizzy, stop and resume after one minute.
Anulom Vilom pranayam –
Close your right nostril with thumb and deep breath-in through left nostril
then – close left nostril with two fingers and breath-out through right nostril
then -keeping the left nostril closed  deep breath-in through right nostril
then - close your right nostril with thumb and breath-out through left nostril.
This is one cycle of anulom vilom.
Repeat this cycle for 15 to 30  minutes twice a day.
Children under 15 years – do 5 to 10 minutes twice a day.
You can do this before breakfast/lunch/dinner or before bedtime or in bed.Remember to take deep long breaths into the lungs. You can do this while sitting on floor or chair or lying in bed.

There are lots of different anti-seizure meds.  Unfortunately they all have some side effects.  If this one isn't working for you or the side effects are causing too many problems, you should discuss what other alternatives there are with your doctor.

Of course, if your doctor isn't working for you (or WITH you) -- definitely look for one who has more knowledge about TN and the medications.

Personally, I went through 6 different types of doctors before I found one that helped me tremendously.

Best of luck!
