heart racing in middle of sleep

I am a 28 yo female, and over the past 2 months, have had 5-6 episodes of racing heart rate in the middle of the night (actually woke me up from sleep).  It usually dissipates after a half hour or so.  Accompanying the increased heart rate is a bit of nausea...but I think that might just be due to the heart rate (sort of like that nauseated feeling you might get if very nervous).  I've never vomitted from it.  Heart monitor showed no abnormal results, but a heartbeat range of 43-136; normal rhythm. Thyroid has been checked-normal.  Lipid panel was also normal.  Any ideas as to what this might be?????

I have thought about anxiety.  I don't really seem to have anxiety symptoms throughout the day, but I am a worrier by nature.  I don't relish the idea of taking anxiety meds, but if that's truly the cause, I would consider it.

I thought about that as well, and tested it out, but it does not appear that caffeine has anything to do with it. Though in general, I do not drink caffeine past about 5pm.

Have you ever done sleep apnea test? That pause in breathing could def cause some plapitations. If not you could also look at night time habits are you drinking tea before bed? tea has caffine which can also cause palpitations. Hope this helps
