I returned from a EMG gone bad...I have had undiagnosed leg parathesias, (tuggging, tingling, weakness)also head and back of neck, extreme fatigue, extreme sensitivity to all stimuli and pain, worse during humidity or high repetition! A neuro whose group is supposed to be at the top in his field did the EMG and had to stop after shocking me during the nerve testing phase! I felt it so extreme to my bone that it literally left my hands shakey and eye started to twitch. Mind you, the area tested was my leg! I kept sweating and getting very hot and requested that we move on to the needles instead, to which he said that would be worse, so he said to quit and get my xrays done and finish the rest of the test at a later date! Why was it so painful to me..everything I have read about EMg's seems so straightforward...I couldn't tolerate it.
From what he did do, my muscle response was normal. He told me that he still didn't know the cause of my symptoms, to which I thought was ridiculous since he's supposed to be the best, then he uttered maybe "fibromyalgia"..I thought "oh no" here we go again. Anyone else have sensitivy to emg? What could this mean if a reaction is so extreme as mine?
