Can anyone help...I feel I am getting the run around

I am 33 y.o., good health, blood pressure fine. I had a baby 16 months ago and 2 months after I had him it all started. Chest pains, shortness of breath. Found mitral valve prolapse and 5 mm non calcified nodule in left lung. I have had 3 scans on the nodule with no change, waiting on results of my 4th CT scan with contrast. All of my EKG's come back fine, blood work fine. Looked for pulmonary embolism that is fine. The pain comes and goes. I ended up in the ER a few weeks back because the pain went to my left arm.  The pain is pretty much high left chest wall. I have had massages with no relief. Now the pain moves to my upper back, still in the chest and arm. Just had a EMG done to test the nerves to see if anything was pinched and everything is fine. I am pretty frustrated and worry that I have lung cancer, but I dont smoke, but was exposed to a lot of second hand smoke growing up. My pulmonary doc and PCP tell me they don't think it is cancer. Last night I was in bed and the pain was so intense and kept moving around. Does mitral valve move around? Could this be stress or fibromyalgia? Could it be possible I have a blocked artery? I also had a bad experience giving birth and they almost lost me. The anethesiologist putting my epidural in took over 30 min to get it in, then after about an hour I stopped breathing. She said they either put it up too high on my spine or they gave me too much. Could I possibly have a spinal cord injury? I am so frustrated and just want answers. Can anyone shed some light on what is going on with me? Thanks!!! I am so sick of having this chest pain and shortness of breath. I do have days where I feel great.  Oh and once in awhile I get a cough, no blood or yellow or green, but when I have it I seem to clear my throat all the time. I do live in Ohio so sinuses and the weather change doesn't help.

Hi
Thanks for keeping me posted!

From your recent post it appears you have generalized pains occurring at different sites. I know it is tough to live with pain. Unexplained pains, sometimes the bones paining and sometimes the muscles can be due to a problem called ‘fibromyalgia’. This is associated with fatigue “a heightened and painful response to gentle touch (allodynia), needle-like tingling of the skin, muscle aches, prolonged muscle spasms, weakness in the limbs, nerve pain, functional bowel disturbances, and chronic sleep disturbances.” “Although fibromyalgia is classified based on the presence of chronic widespread pain, pain may also be localized in areas such as the shoulders, neck, low back, hips, or other areas.” Alternatively you should be tested for gout, Vitamin D deficiency, Vitamin B12 deficiency and rheumatoid arthritis.

Please discuss this with your doctor (preferably a rheumatologist or orthopedic specialist) and get yourself investigated accordingly.  Do let me know if there is any thing else you want to know. Take care!

Really...that is pretty interesting.  I have never heard of that me having allergies.  Not really sure when it is the worst but I will start paying attention.  I know last year at this time it was bad...so maybe winter is a start.  Yes there are lots of browning damage of evergreens and boxwoods in my neighborhood.  Would this also be causing the pain in my legs? Or left leg for the most part.  I thought maybe I had a blockage or clogged artery, but my doc doesn't seem to want to run any further tests on my heart. Should I suggest an allergy test of some sort? What do they do blood work?  Thanks so much for your insight...makes me feel a little better and going to do some more research! :)

Thanks for responding.  I also forgot to mention that I get those pains in my legs too.  More of the pains are on the left side, but I do get it in both legs. Would Gerd be causing all of these pains. I have one cup of coffee a day, no other caffeine. No fried foods, I do not smoke or drink.  I am in so much pain right now, just so frustrated and not sure what to do. Thanks

Hi
Thanks for writing to the forum!

I think you probably have severe acidity or GERD (gastro-esophageal reflux) causing left chest pain. The cough you get once a while could be related to GERD, where acid reflux acts as an irritant causing cough reflex. Since the pain travelled to the arm, an EKG must be done and hear attack or angina should be ruled out. Over the counter antacids and raising head end of the bed should help. Excessive drinking, smoking, caffeine, fried food should be avoided. Stress and over exertion too can cause similar symptoms.
Please discuss this with your doctor and get yourself investigated accordingly. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
