Thank you for your help.
I had the dexamethasone suppression test about a year ago by the first endocrinologist I saw. I was adequately supressed and he ruled out testing futher. The second endocrinologist I saw ordered the 24 hour cortisol which came back mildly elevated. She said it would warrent doing the test again later down the road.
I do have a tumor on my pituitary gland, but it's a prolactin producing tumor in which I am being treated with Dostinex for.
I will speak to my dr. also about the polygladular autoimmune syndrome 1 and 3 you mentioned. :-)
Thanks,
Sarah
Hello,
Your symptoms are definitely diagnostic of cushing’s disease, but without investigations I cannot confirm it.
When Cushing's is suspected, either a dexamethasone suppression test (administration of dexamethasone and frequent determination of cortisol and ACTH level), or a 24-hour urinary measurement for cortisol are usually done. When any of these tests are positive, CT scanning of the adrenal gland and MRI of the pituitary gland are performed. Scintigraphy of the adrenal gland with iodocholesterol scan and petrosal sinus sampling are the other advanced tests.Normal blood tests are not indicative of cushing’s syndrome.
In my opinion, consulting an endocrinologist and getting these tests done will be the best. Also get polyglandular autoimmune syndrome type 1 and 3 ruled out.
Hope it helps. Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional queries.
i also have a great deal of those symptoms but my doctor wouldn't even consider cushings. he thinks i'm going insane and that my hump as he calls it is just bad posture. well i don't think so , im getting a new doctor. thanks. i know i'm nnot any help but wanted to let u know that someone else out there is going through the same thing.
