Eyes get blood shot after trying a little bit of alcohol

Why my face gets red  and eyes get blood shot after trying a little bit of alcohol & sometimes I get profused heart beat and breathing trouble? I used to drink heavily(but never used to get drunk) since June 2012. I had some medication for sinus infection during July-August. And I started taking Fybogel (http://www.netdoctor.co.uk/digestive-health/medicines/fybogel.html) regularly.

I personally get strange side effects from drinking alcohol too. My eyes get itchy and red and watery and my face starts to feel very tight and my cheeks get very flushed.

If you're worried you should see a doctor. Or you could just stop drinking alcohol. It's probably nothing to be too worried about but to put your mind at ease you should see someone about it.

Hi,

Not a doc but would like to try answering your question.  Alcohol can affect each individual differently.  Some can drink a tub of the stuff and not have a hospital visit to boot.  Other can have that same amount and die from alcohol poisioning.  A lot of it has to do with body fat and conditioning of the body.  YOur eyes turning red may be your reaction to alcohol.  Unless you can tell me this has never happened before.  Alcohol is a drug.  And, certain drugs can make the heart rate rise like alcohol.  The breathing trouble can be caused by heart racing, excitement, and other similar type reactions.
