Fatigue/light headedness, right-side back pain, going on 1 month

Hello,

First, I am seeing my PCP for this, but so far he hasn't been able to come up with anything. I am very scared and am desperate for an answer.

I am a 23 year old male.

Almost a month ago I started feeling fatigued--almost like I'm on auto-pilot. I get tired earlier in the day and don't feel refreshed in the morning. Around the same time, I began to have some pains in my abdomen underneath my ribs. Sporadic pains that couldn't really be reproduced when someone pressed on me. I went to the ER for the pains, where they did a CBC, urinalysis, and LFT test. They found occult blood in my urine, which the doctor suggested might be related to a kidney stone.

When I got home, my PCP ordered abdominal and pelvic CT scans without contrast to look for stones. When that test was negative, he ordered an ultrasound of my kidneys. That test was also negative. He, again, drew blood for LFT, CBC, and thyroid. All came back normal. He repeated the urinalysis and found no occult blood this time.

The back pain went away for about a week or so, then returned last Friday. At times it seems to radiate, but it's mostly concentrated in my mid-lower back on the right side.

I also had a colonoscopy for some bowel issues I had been having. The GI doc wanted to rule out Crohn's. That test was also normal.

As I said, I am barely able to function because I'm so nervous about what is causing the fatigue and pain. Any direction would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

My BP has been taken many times--and has always been normal--124/80, 120/76. Around there.

I mean, the doc has mentioned that a stone could cause this kind of pain, but the CT and ultrasound didn't see anything. He did mention that it could cause pain for a while after it passed, but I don't remember any discomfort while urinating. Also, so far as I know my kidney function was normal on the blood tests.

That said, I do drink a lot of sugary drinks--including soda.

Thanks for the reply though. Any other thoughts? The pain seems to be fading, although I can still feel it, and I'm still quite fatigued and--detached.

What is your blood pressure?  Sounds like it is your kidneys.  You could be getting repeated kidney stones or you could have a large kidney stone now.  Are you drinking lots of pop like mountain dew?  Pop with lots of sugar cause kidney stones.  You will want to have your kidneys checked out again as soon as possible.  If for some reason it is kidney infection, this is quite serious in males.
