A correction here..I have recently read that Prebiotics are much more well absorbed by the body that probiotics, so will be switching from probiotic yoghurt to supplements...These will add good bacteria to the intestines and help fight the fungus
I have suffered from this for 2 years, along with several of my neighbors..gnats are a big issue here...they (and their eggs) are all over the fruits and veggies in the markets...my freinds and I have experimented with everything.first some things mentioned above not to do...then a list of things that do work...
Do not bathe in cider or apple vinegar, do not put it on your scalp, it is a temporary fix for the itch etc. but the gnats love it and are attracted to it and the eggs will live in it. Instead pour some small bowls of cider vinegar (I currently have 4 around my apt.) add a couple of drops of dish detergent and put them around the kitchen , bathroom and areas where you spend a lot of time,,,gnats go in the bowl and the soap prevents them from getting out , refresh it every few days.
Do not use tar soap, it works temporarily but is a known carcinagen and is banned in Europe and Canada.
If you can bathe in Epson salts once a day, and as another member said mix up a quart of one warm water and epson salts and pour over your hair....but do not sit with wet hair for long, gnats are attracted to the dampness.
I keep a clear plastic bag beside the chair where I sit and can easily scrape eggs from my scalp, and I get an itch on my body and sure enough I find an egg or two there I pick them all off and put them in the sealable plastic bag, I have hundreds in there ( If you don.t do that they will eventually hatch). I also keep a small spray bottle filled with 70 percent alcohol and 30 percent water and I spray my head shoulders etc, many times during the day...for a while the gnats will stay away.
I have to pay for my laundry so can only wash bedding once a week but I have about ten pillow cases and change them daily...some times spray my head before bed with the alcohol and sometimes rub calamine lotion around my neck and face as they seem to bite there during the night, and they don't like it.
Most importantly and what has the most impact has been mentioned here before...there is a yeasty fungul infection component, I also suffer chronic sinus issues and decreased immunity raised histamine so the diet component also helps with that..Minimal or NO sugar or sugar substitutes,,Try to have no yeast or gluten...I have found many great replacement (Bretton now has a gluten free cracker that is to die for.found at London Drugs and many grocers)..I make myself egg sandwiches with them in the morning, tuna salad on them for lunch etc.
I think I also have to work on my dairy consumption and I am trying but I like cheese a lot...Eat lots of probiotic yoghurt...I make my own gluten free granola to add to it mm mmm.
Take vitamin C and B12 and B6 also Vitamin E if you can...Another thing that in the long term is supposed to be a cure is to ingest a whole clove of FRESH garlic every night...it is hard to keep doing usually I tolerate it for about ten days but I am trying. It has an antibiotic/antifungal effect and gnats hate it too.
I know how frustrating this is and the fact the you can't talk to doctors or others about it with out being labeled crazy or depressed is sad.
I see many people here say they use sleep aids and or antidepressants...I will not recommend anyone stop taking these but I was using Elavil (amitriptyline) to help me sleep and getting leg muscle spasms and one of the advertised side effects is skin rashes and itch, I have found that anything that effects my serotonin levels causes me to be even more susceptible to these parasites and skin issues...but that is just me.
Good luck and don't give up...keep talking about this and don't be embarrassed you will be surprised how many people are suffering in silence because they think it is "Just them"
Lastly...I used to go swimming at the local rec center 3 times a week and am trying to get back to it because I think the chlorine or ozone kills them as well.
Please do not use toxic chemicals to fix this !
I am thinking that the reason why flies follow me because of my bleeding gum in my molar tooth that have no pair below. The pair is out 1 year before of this problem. Thats one thing i did before of this problem. But im not sure. Maybe you have the same bleeding gum when you floss your teeth. I dont want to remove it because im not sure. And its not dacaying.
I'm thinking of what is something on us small or big.
Because DOCTORS dont cure the disease they dont even know.
Maybe there is no doctor that want to study it.
