If you're in your teen years...you're still growing.
Its probably just your body's way of getting the nutrients and vitamins it needs to help it grow!
Just as pregnant people are usually very hungry...your body is sending a message that it needs more food/nutrients/vitamins, etc.
But then, Im not a doctor!...just my guess ;)
If you're not gaining weight, then enjoy it while you can because...trust me, as you get older that metablolism will slow!!!
Do you have any other symptoms with and/or related to your hunger? such as: Anxiety ; Premenstrual syndrome ; Bulimia (most common in women between ages 18 and 30 years old); Diabetes mellitus (including Gestational diabetes); Hypoglycemia; Drugs -- such as corticosteroids, cyproheptadine, and tricyclic antidepressants; Hyperthyroidism/Graves' Disease - Hunger pangs , stomach growling, nausea and very sick if you don't eat right away when you get hunger, shakes, weight lose (however might be last stages). I had all the above due to Hyper/Graves'. You might want to have your thyroid and levels checked out. TSH and both FTs, if warranted, antibodies;
Hyperphagia and polyphagia which refers to being focused only on eating (gluttony), or eating excessively before feeling full. These can be symptoms of various disorders.
I'd suggest seeing a doctor if there is an unexplained, persistent increase in appetite, weight lose and/or other unexplained symptoms accompany the problem.
Good Luck!
No I don't have any of those problems you listed. I feel tired a lot, but I'm not sure if its because I've been busy. But I can feel my stomachs full, but I still have the sensation of being hungry, so I pretty much, go eat more. But thankfully, I don't gain the weight.
Could be acidic... You dont always get a burning sensation from heartburn. It can be silent. Anyhow, Its worth asking the doc about.
I was on a pretty high dose of Ibuprofen for a while and noticed after some time that after I ate I would always get a hungry feeling, knowing that I was full. It was almost like my signals got crossed or something.
It did get better a while after stopping the IBU.
Could anything like that be a problem for you?
Good luck!
Some of use have high matabalism where we eat all the time and don't gain any weight. And Have you check and see if you was PG.
I've had similar symptoms myself over the past week or so. I feel hungry all the time, as well as, nausea. Although when I fill my hunger need, I tend to experience light pains in my stomach following my meal. The only thing that seems to soothe my stomach is a cup of tea. Although sometimes after drinking the tea, I feel nausea for about 30 minutes to an hour. I can't figure out for the life of me, why I am suddenly experiencing these feelings. I also, am not gaining weight (just feelin' hungry all the time).
ok i'm 17 and i feel asshe does, but i'm loosing weight and height. i'm tired and hungery but not hun gery as in i want and kinda need food, it's more like i haven't eaten in three days hungery, my stomach is in constant pains of hunger. I eat a big meal, 2 minutes later i feel as if i haven't eaten all day. i can't stand it sometimes it gets so bad i feel as if i'm about to perg(sp). I have constant headaches(although i've had major headaches since i was in 1st grade), I feel weak, and look pale.
WHATS WRONG AND HOW CAN I FIX IT?!?!?!
Hi
Thanks for writing to the forum!
You need to eat healthy frequent small meals in the day instead of few huge meals. Avoid too much of caffeine, tea, fried food and drinks both alcoholic and non alcoholic fuzzy ones. You can take over the counter antacid tablets to control this. Omeprazole 20mg too is a good choice. Once you start these, within a week the feeling of hunger will reduce.
You need to get your blood sugar tested both fasting and two hours after food. Diabetes can cause you to be very hungry all the time and poor growth. You also need to investigate for anemia.
Hope this helps. Talk to your parents. Consult your doctor. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
I am female, 18 years old and doing my a-levels at the moment. for the past week or so, I have been feeling really hungry and tired all the time. even if i get about 10+ hours of sleep a night, i still feel really tired and even if i eat loads, i still feel really hungry. but, as always, i have not gained or lost any weight which is good. help anyone? any ideas?
I'm also diabetic Type 2 and hungry ALL the time. and I mean ALL the time. I'm very overweight and since started taking Metformin have gaining even more weight. Can't stop myself from eating. Eat breakfast and still hungry, then have a snack. Then lunch and then another snack. Eat dinner and 2 hours after, another snack. Go to bed and in the middle of the night, have another snack. Help!!!! I do drink lots of liquid though.

Hunger can be controlled. Keep a diary of what you eat. Some food stuffs make you hungry earlier where as others do not. Remove all high calorie and high glycemic index food items from your house. Keep healthy nutritious food, plenty of fiber rich food and plenty of fruits and vegetables. Stick to an exercise regimen that helps you lose weight. If possible join a fitness instructor or a gym. Do yoga. It strengthens the mind and keeps you off things you should not do. At times a change of medication helps. Generally hunger is due to sugar dipping too low or going too high. Hence once a good control is achieved hunger will decrease. Monitor your blood glucose before and after each main meal. Infact it is a good idea to snack on healthy food items 5-6 times a day in small quantities than to eat 3 big meals. Also reducing your weight will help. Get your thyroid tested too.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
I have been suffering from what feels like severe hunger pangs for 6 months. They are not true hunger pangs as I am rarely hungry when they strike and they do not stop until a good while after eating.
I have had an endoscopy which ruled out stomach cancer and ulcer. I had a stomach biopsy which ruled out infection. I had a CT scan that showed nothing abnormal. I have been on all the OTC acid blockers and also the prescription ones. They do not help.
My thyroid is normal. I am not diabetic. I am not pregnant. I drink plenty of water and am not mistaking hunger for thirst. Acidic foods and drink do not make it worse.
The only thing that any doctor can find right now is that I am vitamin D deficient. I am now taking 2000 IU of vitamin D3 per day. Since starting it, the hunger pangs seem to have diminished but I feel nauseated certain times during the day.
I can find no link between these stomach pains and being deficient in Vitamin D but it is a test that maybe some of you have not had. My doctor ran the test during a routine physical NOT because of my stomach issues.
They still do not know the cause of the false hunger pangs and maybe the Vitamin D supplement has nothing to do with me being better this week.
If anyone else tests deficient in Vitamin D and has good results when taking a supplement, please let me know. Or if you have any other findings that has made your symptoms better, please let me know.
I feel relieved to read your post! My severe hunger pangs have been going on for about a year, the nausea for about 6 months, but the whole thing has been around for almost a year now, aggravating! If you hear anything, please post and I will do the same, good luck!
Oh yeah, I was going to ask, are you on the depo shot or anything like that? A lot of my food cravings and hunger pangs got worse once starting that damned thing but I know it's not the primary cause.
No I am not on the Depo shot or anything. Nothing changed for me when all this started. It was just out of the blue and for a couple of weeks I just thought I was hungry. I do find that eating low carb helps more than anything else. Maybe I can shed some of the extra weight if I stick to that.
Post again if you come up with anything.
It seems more people do not get medical answers than those that do.
