Thanks for responding. I am not happy that this can reoccur, as my gyn said it may be only outbreak....but the burning is half as bad and that's great! I also am flushing with water to reduce sting from urine. It still hurts to sit, so I lie down a lot. I am just confused if I was dormant or if bf was-he claims he NEVER had cold sore. I didn't either, but my mom and dau have MANY years apart.  I am wondering why NOW? I did go through much stress last 5 weeks and perhaps my resistance was low. My tests results are in 12 hours, and bf= 5 days. It is not a blame game thankfully-as neither had awareness or signs.  It seems it could be rare outbreak if #1 and not to get anxious unless it is #2 right? That means it will be returning all my life. I was led to believe #1 herpes is one outbreak. But I guess I will be aware more of signs. thanks!

Most individuals have no or only minimal signs or symptoms from HSV-1 or HSV-2 infection. When signs do occur, they typically appear as one or more blisters on or around the genitals or rectum. The blisters break, leaving tender ulcers (sores) that may take two to four weeks to heal the first time they occur. Typically, another outbreak can appear weeks or months after the first, but it almost always is less severe and shorter than the first outbreak.

There is currently no cure that can eradicate herpes virus from the body, but antiviral medications can reduce the frequency, duration, and severity of outbreaks.You can also take anti-inflammatory pian killer like diclofenac.

OMG My hunch was right. The ER doctor misdiagnosed me...my gyn confirmed herpes. I knew that from internet reading-how could a doctor miss that?!!! I was given pill but still scream wfen I pee. I am in so much pain, can't worry about future yet,

The scary thing after reading this...is yrs, many men don't have sympotoms when they pass it on! My "friend" must have been dormant over 4 years.

wish a doctor could reccommend help for burning pain as I need to pee every hour and this is making me feel like ying. I finally broke down and begged dau to hug me while I sobbed. Life *****. No God could create this excruciating pain! Today is day 6 of pain. How much longer does this go on?

thanks Joan. I am on hormone patch estridol for years.  I called my gyn's partner this morning and gave update. It seems sure the blisters were reaction to creme. The pain from urinating went from a 10 to a 6 today-but blisters still burning from it. I am staying clean after every pee and dry to hope blisters heal. I just think a diaper rash creme would benefit as it dries up sores quickly..but I'm awaiting doctor's call back. I lost my job, so I can walk around all day at home in nightgown and allow air flow and no friction. It was scary wondering if it is herpes or kidney stone passing. I know I can't go through this for weeks. It hurts to sit and so I lay down much or walk. The fact temperature is back to normal is a good sign. sure wish a doctor would respond here!!!! I know one thing...no more prickly beards, and I aim to get help asap for stress incontinence to alleviate moisture there...and I here there is phys therapy for that now. I hope I don't get yeast infection on top of this from antibiotic!!! I had enough! I will spend day drinking tons of water and cranberry  juice. It hurts to wipe=argh! Thanks for responding!  Oh-I also have colitus= always a threat of bacterial infection also.

I suffered from the same symptoms for weeks and even went to Mayo Clinic to no avail.  Then did a home IZO test and found Ihad a UTI and was ut on Macrobid whichhelped but the problem persisted.  Finally, after weeks, Mayo sent me to a urologist who determined that I had spasms in the pelvic floor and rectum.  They have recommended PT for that region but havaen't had the first treatment yet but hope it willhelp.  They did put me on a vaginal hormone which has helped some.
