Severe headache and fever

I suddenly got a fever of 102.4 on tuesday and i took ibprofen for it, but once it wore off, the fever came right back (with severe chills). The ibprofen did nothing for my headache and everytime I cough, I feel like my head is going to pop off. I am coughing up mucus but those are my only symptoms. Now two days later, I am still getting fevers over 101 and I have not been able to shake it. I went to the doctor, he tested me for mono and strep (I know it's neither), so now I'm worried that is something more severe than just a virus. Can anybody help me? I can't work and I'm miserable. I have not left my house in 2 going on 3 days. Please!!!!!!
