Two years + muscle twitching

I'm 44yrs old and have had a muscle spasm very close to nonstop in my right hand inbetween the index finger and thumb for over two years.  I mentioned it to my doctor about a year ago and was told that it is probably just stress related.  Granted, I've been under a lot of stress in the past year and nearly as much the year before, but most of my life has been stressful.  I've had MRIs  done for headaches (ruled to be some sort of migraine) and there was no indication of brain issues.  Still, I don't understand why this twitch won't stop.  It is effecting my sleep as well as distracting me during my awake hours.  Is this possibly a symptom of something more than just stress?

Thank you for the reply!  I will look further into the finger stretches as well as speak to my doctor on my next visit about testing my calcium/vitamin levels.

Take care, too & Thanks again!

Hello, there are a lot of reason for spasms and cramping.  Muscle spasms and cramping anywhere in the body can be caused by vitamin deficiencies - vitamin b, as well as low calcium and magnesium levels in the blood and low potassium.  Ask your doctor to run tests to make sure you vitamin and calcium levels are ok.  In the meanwhile, you should try to stretch your fingers throughout the day (check online to see finger stretches).  I would probably do this at night before bedtime.  Lack of sleep can cause you a bunch of probablems especially fatigue which will lead to body aches and pain.  Make sure you are drinking your water.

Muscle spasms and cramps are very common.  I wouldn't worry and stress over it.  I would feel relived knowing the brain mri came back clear which is great news.

Good luck and take care.
