Hi,
P wave means atrial depolarization and R wave means ventricular depolarization. So PR interval means the time taken by the electrical activity from the atria to the ventricles.Short PR interval means electrical activity is moving from the atria to the ventricles very fast which can happen due to the presence of an abnormal bypass pathway.Normal PR interval or 0.12 to 0.2 sec.To find out the underlying cause,we need to do some elctrophysiological studies.i will request you to consult a cardiologist.
Regards and do keep us posted.
Hi
Thanks for writing to the forum!
The PR interval is atrial chamber’s depolarization and shows the time from the start of atrial depolarization (electrical impulse) to the start of ventricular depolarization (electrical impulse). It is a measured as a time interval on EKG. A short PR interval may occur as a normal variant in an adult’s EKG. It is much more common in the pediatric population and at faster heart rates. It is not dangerous in itself. However if the heart rate is also very fast then it needs to be investigated.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
