I NEED YOUR ADVICE

Sorry in advance for the details, but i need answers....I have been having a lot of abnormal bleeding and this is something that I have never experienced before.  My last period was the 4th-8th and then last week, the 18th I started bleeding. It was light, not like a regular period.  Then it went away for about 4 days and now its back.  Im not due to start my next period until mid jan (im on a 45 day cycle).  I made an appt at planned parenthood for a pap bc i dont have insurance.  My last pap was about 6yrs ago. I know, thats aweful, but without insurance its tough.  I had dysplasia and the cells were frozen off.  I'm starting to get a little worried that the cells grew back and I didnt take care of it.  I have been doing a lot of research and this seems to fit the bill.  I dont really know what to do or who to talk to, but its scaring me.  If you have any words of wisdom please let me know.  Thank you : )

Hi Erin,
I am not on the pill. My periods are pretty regular, just a long cycle.  I am used to going longer periods of time (45 days) without my period, but never this.  I had it for 6 days then was good for about ten and now i have been bleeding for about ten days.  I have heard of breakthrough bleeding but I don't think this is it.

Hi Katt,
Are you on the pill?  If you are and you've started a new brand or missed a pill or two, this isn't unusual, and neither is occasional 'breakthrough' bleeding even if you've been on the same pill forever and haven't missed any.  It's happened to me before.

If you are not on the pill, it could just be that you have irregular periods, which is also common.  Going on the pill usually fixes this problem, it did for me.  I have crazy periods and ovarian cysts.

I think since you have a history of dysplasia, you should definitely go to Planned Parenthood though.  Probably nothing is wrong but it will make you feel better to know for sure.

Keep in mind that there are TONS of minor, harmless things that can cause these symptoms so don't worry yourself too much that it's something bad until you've ruled out the harmless stuff.
