Diagnosis?

It has been really terrible five weeks for me and I have no idea what to do next. I have probably seen 5 doctors and still no relief from my symptoms. I don't think I am a hypochondriac, these were my first doctor visits in a couple of years and I have been in mostly perfect health since then. I am  approx a 26 years old male. Here is the history:

Symptoms Started on 4th of November 2010
Initially it was just aches in legs
Noticed a few pimples on the groin area (Bled on bursting)
  - Total of 3 (1 near the top edge, 1 near thigh and 1 on base of shaft)
  - They appeared gradually and in turns
Anxiety set in after this and I sufferred from insomnia

Comprehensive STD test taken on next week at specialist STD clinic.

Visited GP on 9th for symptomatic relief and was prescribed Xanax (0.25 mg per day for 5 days)

While waiting for the results faced
  - Frequent Urination
  - Slight Headaches
  - Chest Pains
  - General feeling of weakness
  - Loss of Appetite
  - Very mild cough
Dismissed most of them as anxiety related

All results on the STD test came as -ve on the 14th, however symptoms continue on to the 15th. Headaches and Muscle Pain increase in severity and muscle pain now extends to thighs and arms as well.

Visited another GP on 16th:
  - blood test taken and prescribed Biogesic for muscle pain.
  - blood test came normal - WBC slightly lower (GP suspected some acute viral infection)

Unexplained scratches and small bleeding spots/scratches on arms on the week of 16th and the headache severity gradually increases.

Visit another GP on 18th... Urine test conducted. Results are normal except recommended to drink more water. Prescribed diclofenac 3 times a day for the next week. Referred to an internal medicine specialist.

Muscle pain subsides and almost gone with diclofenac... headache increases in severity and becomes persistent.

Visited the specialist on 24th... Complete Blood Tests and CT scan conducted. Turned out I had lost 4 kg since 1st Nov.
Prescribed Xanax 1mg per day for 2 weeks while waiting results. Started with full dose however switched to 0.5 mg per day and completely stopped in 1 week as there was no noticeable effect.

Conducted another set of STD tests first week of Dec @ another specialist clinic( >3 months post last activity). Tested for Herpes, HIV, Chlamadiya and Gonnorhoea. Results are all -ve. Scars on arms and pimples have completely gone. There is a small round red mark on the arm left where I scratched.

Persistent headache continues and increase in severity.

Follow up on 9th Dec. Results are all clear for blood and CT scan except inflammation of the Sinusitis. Prescribed arcoxia 1 tab in the morning. Did not take it as muscle pain was not the chief complaint. Tried inhaling steam for the sinusitis.

11th Dec visited ophthalmologist - Diagnosed as being colour blind (no recollection of colour blindness). Everything else is as per normal.

12th-13th Dec Muscle pain returns with lower intensity. Headache is almost unbearable and gets worse on using computer/typing. Additionally feeling of nausea with cough.

Any clues to what this could be or what kind of doctor should I see for this? At this point if I could just get rid of my headache I'd be glad. Have tried a few analgesics for the pain but nothing seems to work :(.

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
It is difficult to diagnose the cause of headaches on net. Sinusitis (you appear to have this), refractive errors of the eye, migraine, cluster headaches, brain tumors, high blood pressure, tension headaches, temporal arteritis, pinched cervical spinal nerve, poor or disturbed sleep etc are several causes of headaches. Dental pain and ear ache can cause similar symptoms. Needless to say, a persisting headache should be investigated.  Please consult a headache and migraine specialist to rule out these causes one by one. Take care!

Hi,

Thanks for the suggestions,
I'll be visiting another internal med specialist next week to see if I can get another opinion and planning to arrange an appointment with a neurologist as well.

Just realised something in my blood tests that either the doctors did not notice or dismissed... my WBC was actually normal but at the lower end of the reference range while my CK level were significantly higher than the reference range. I doubt anxiety could cause that. Hence my decision to get all this reviewed by another internal med for a 2nd opinion. Still feeling like crap and am nearing my wits ends with the whole uncertainty and the unrelenting pain.

Neurologist. The only thing I can think of since pain is so widespread. Top symptoms totally sound like anxiety. Sounds mainly like some kind of virus. Good Luck.
