Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Yes, HIV can occur without swollen lymph nodes. The only way to know for sure is get tested for it.
Ideally a HIV antibody test should be done within a month of exposure. Almost everyone who is infected will have a positive antibody test within 3 months. Hence it should be repeated after 3 months. Last test should be done at 6 months for slow antibody developers. If this is negative HIV is ruled out.
Please consult your PCP for primary examination.
Take care!
no it means your fighting off some sort of infection. Not neccarily hiv could be anything.
Approximately 75% of folks with primary HIV will have generalized lymphadenopathy (swollen lymph nodes at multiple sites). With that being said, 25% of primary HIV do not have generalized lymphadenopathy (lymph nodes swollen at multiple sites). The only way to know for sure is to get an HIV test at 6 weeks after the risk. You will then have a good indicator of whether you contracted HIV from the risk.
Good luck...
