Is it common to have a scratched cornea after cataract surgery?

Don't take a scratched cornea lightly.   I experienced this a few years back and my Eye Drs were extremely concerned.  Infection can set in and if left untreated you could lose your vision in that eye.
I would suggest a prompt visit to your Dr.

also, it may be something more serious since the cornea is one of the fastest regenerating tissues in the human body - if you have had eye surgery and the corneas have not healed before the 2nd day, something else is wrong  so see your surgeon ASAP

I would not call it common, but it is a possibility.  If you don't already have a post op follow up scheduled with your ophthalmologist, I'd make one and specifically mention your concern.  I'm sure also that the possible side effects of this surgery is listed on your pre-op consent sheet.  Good luck!
