swollen lymph node foll tonsilitis

hi guys,
12 days ago i had chills, malaise and and a fever of 38.6c.
2 days later i woke up with a swollen tonsil with pus and very back ache in throat.
went to the ent who prescrived antibioti for 10 days MAXINLIN 500 and an antinflammatory
NIMELIDE for 2-3 days.
i finished the course but i still have a swollen lymph node under that tonsil.
went today again and he said i should again take antiinflam meds for another 2-3 days.
but i hate them cause i know they are very bad for your kidneys.
do you know if it would be dangerous if i dont take them.
and also if anyone knows what exactly is a swollen lymph node ? does it have pus in it ?

No a swollen lymph node does not have pus in it. It has lymph which fights against disease causing organisms. Your doctor is right in asking you to take anti-inflammatory for a few days more. A short course of 7-10 days will not harm your kidney.
Drink plenty of warm water. Gargle with warm saline water. Both should help reduce the inflammation. The swollen lymph node will settle down with time.
