skin eating disease???

Hi, I am a 19 year old female and weight about 150 lbs.
So, I just finished my first college year and came home for the summer. I had to fly from CA to WA. Two days after my trip I started noticing an itch on my left lower bottom. It hurt in the beginning and I didn't think much of it until I took a look at it in the mirror a couple of days later. Some skin had fallen off, it was bleeding a bit, there was a black spot in the middle and a white spot which seemed to be filled with something. My mom sanitized it with peroxide and it stopped itching. I went to the doctor this week and they said it was just on the surface so they gave me antibiotic and a cream. It has been getting better and it has not gotten bigger. Now it just looks red and seems to be fading but I am worried because I've been hearing in the news that there is a lot of cases sprouting up of the skin eating disease. I'm sure i did not get it through a cut, I am almost positive that I got it in one of the public restrooms at the airport because I was in such a hurry that I did not use a toilet cover, also because of its location and because my little brother got it in the same place. We started being more cautious and nobody else has gotten it in our house. Do you think I should get it looked at by another doctor?
Is there a possibility that it is the skin eating disease.
Thanks!

Once when I wasn't much older than you are, I had a dish washing job and had to use the latex gloves provided.  I lost the job and went on to a different job.  It was in the midst of this time frame that I had  had a delayed reaction to the latex, only neither did the doctor nor did I realize that's what the problem was.  The skin on the backs of both of my hands began to disappear and I had very raw hands for starting the new job.  I don't think that went over well with the new boss either.  Anyway, that was when I discovered that I had a latex allergy or intolerance.  It looked a lot like what people are describing when they are talking about Skin Eating Disease.  This was a lifetime ago, back when no one had heard of this sort of thing happening, but it's worth mentioning.  It's always possible that you could actually have had some sort of similar skin allergy that you're unaware of.  This is because if you have a delayed reaction like I did, you may not be able to figure out what the trigger was because it's not a full blown allergy in the sense that it's not an immediate response by the body.

Either way, it does make sense to see the dermatologist.  But, it might be an allergy rather than SED.

The way you describe it, it sounds like you are getting better.  However, you are concerned and better to be safe than sorry, so why not you and your brother go to a dermatologist as soon as possible and get it checked?
