Cold hands

Dear doctor,

I recently feel very cold (especially in my fingers and toes) when I sit behind my computer for 2+ hours, which makes my nails' colours become purple (much like when there is not much blood in some part of a body). Other than that, a few horizontal lines appeared on 4 of my nails.

What is wrong? What should I do? I'm a bit scared.

i am the same way with my fingers and toes except im not at the computer that long. i think it may be due to decreased blood flow. but im always cold.

Just to add, when I do my daily exercise, I feel very warm, my nail look like normal and I don't feel cold anymore.

Another thing: I used to be in a football team and I used to run everyday, I had lots of activities to do every day. Since I've quit, I am not as active as before and I usually spend my time watching TV or working with computers, with a little bit of exercise every day.

I don't drink, I don't feel exhausted at all, I am not a vegetrian. I get hungry more often than other people of the same age (20), although I am not fat at all.

I'm not sure, as I said, the only symptoms that I can observe are those cold hands, purple nails and recently horizontal lines on some of them.

then i have to say that it sounds like decreased blood flow to the ends of your fingers. as for the white lines it sounds like calcium i have white on some of my fingernails as well. it has to do with calcium. id say go to the doctor if your really concerned/ ok.

Look up Raynaud's Phenomenon. Also, some fingernail changes, such as lines or ridges in the nails can be part of circulatory problems. You should consider having your cardiac function tested, as this could contribute.
