Atypical urothelial cells present

I have received a Cytologic Diagnosis with atypical urothelial cells present.  They found squamous cell, red blood cells, acute inflammation, atpical transitional cells present.  I redid the UA today and am scheduled for an IVP on 5/21.  My regular physician is a PA-C.   What do I need to be doing at this point?   I have had a history of bladder infections with blood present for the last year.  I passed a blood clot 10 days ago.  How agressive do I need to be?

Hi,
I’ll suggest a cystoscopy in your case. Please consult your urologist on the same. If the cystoscopy and the IVP come out as normal, then there’s a good possibility of the atypical cells being due to the cystitis(recurrent infections of the bladder which you have been suffering).
I sincerely hope that helps. Please do keep me posted. Kind Regards.
