What is the status of your other kidney? When one kidney is not working well the other one will do the work of two and enlarge. Also, some kidneys have two tubes (ureters) draining the urine to the bladder. These kidneys are often longer than usual. Certainly tumors can cause a kidney to enlarge, but the kidney shape becomes distorted. Also, if this kidney is not draining properly (hydronephrosis) it will appear enlarged by some descriptors. You need more information than just "enlarged." Certainly don't freak out. The probability is that this is not a cancer, which is often where our minds go first.
