I think I might have testicular cancer

About 4 months ago I found a painful lump on the very top of my left testicle. The weird thing about this lump is that it does not seem like it is fully attatched to my testicle but instead like it is attatched by a vein since i can actually grab it and move it. I have noticed that sometimes this lump seems to be able to move farther away from my testicle than othertimes if i move it. I have read on most sites that testicular cancer usually has painless lumps but could this still be a cyst or a tumor that could be cancerous? I have not yet seen a doctor about this yet since I would have to mention something to my mom since I am only 17, and I dont feel comfortable bringing this topic up with her. Does anyone know what this could be?
