Male Loss of libido and erection difficulty

by AlexJ44, Feb 04, 2009 12:49AM
Well I am a healthy 27 year old man who has; like some others on this board been struggling with what seems to have been a total loss of libido and the ability to become aroused. Just have no drive at all. Also I have noticed that I haven't had an erection for over a year and a half; never have "morning wood" or the occasional random erection like I used to in the past. I used to become aroused (and hard) at the drop of a hat. Now Nothing!! In addition to the libido issues, my penis has felt abnormally constricted in its flacid state. It often feels rubbery, stiff and somewhat tender rather then the normal soft spongy feeling.

I did not think this was really a problem until I attempted to have sex a few times with this new woman I am seeing. I could not become erect OR aroused at all even with various methods of direct physical stimulation!!! It felt like dead wood!! The only way I can achieve a full erection and ejaculate normally is through masturbation. This has really been freaking me out. I cannot live like this.

I visited my GP for a full physical and ordered bloodwork for Thyroid hormones, testosterone, and cholesterol. The doctor said that I was very healthy and everything was normal, thyroid levels too. Although my good cholesterol level was a bit low. I happen to believe my testosterone is low as well. The rating was a 291 mg/dL which is considered "normal" but its on the very low end of the normal ratio. have also been informed that testosterone levels for someone my age should be much much higher like in the 700's.

I am a young man and shouldn't be having these problems. I My GP brushed everything off as just being caused by anxiety or stress which I know is not true since I have been depressed and very stressed before and was very revved up sexually. Have also been very moody and irritable lately; now this problem only makes things worse. I have been on well know libido killer anti-depressants in the past like Paxil, but I quit taking it over two years ago. Also have been fully weened off Depakote since September. the only medication I am on now is synthroid for my thyroid.

I have since decided to take various suppliments since December like ginko, ginseng, L-arginine and now the testosterone boosting suppliment Tribex. I also tried Viagra So far nothing has really helped however just started the Tribex. If anyone can help point me in the right direction in identifying the problem and remedying this, it would be greatly appreciated. I really don't have any clue as to what has happened to the old horny me except the testosterone issue.  Thank you in advance for any help.
