Sore Penis Head - left side

by med123, Dec 10, 2004 12:00AM
I'm 26 years old.  I had sex with my gf for about 2 weeks, The sex lasted anywhere from 30-60 miutes, at times a little ruff.   everything was fine with my penis, then one night I started to feel a little bit of soreness on the left side of the penis.  It was by the opening and spread throughout the left side of the head.  It was a little tender and but during sex it was fine.  We continued to have sex for about one omre week.  The irritation turned into a brused irritaion feeling.  I saw a doctor and he prescribed Nystatin cream.  I used that on and of for one week.  Then used it straight for one more week.  There was not much progress, so I starting using 1% Hydrocotisone (Cortizone 10 , from the drug store).  I used it twice daily for three days.  It started to feel a little better, after 1-2 days, however, on the third day, I may have actually put it on 3 times, and a little larger portion, and the next night the whole left side left was hard and burning.  This feeling has continued to this time.  Especially at night when I'm lying down, I get a burning+bruised feeling at the part where I put the cream.  Its also a little paniful in that area when I have an erectiona and after the erection.  I have no discharge, no redness or rash, everything looks normal.  I went to another doctor and he presribed Latuiderm Cuu ?, this is what I can make out from his hardwriting.  However, I'm scared to put more creams on my already sore penis.

Here is some other things that may help diagnose my problem.  About 10 years ago, I had a piece of tissue stuck to that part of my penis.  I tried to take it off, but it was stuck.  So, with one swipe I ripped it off. That was a mistake that left me very sore, it hurt seemed to leave a mark in that spot for a month or so.  After that, it went away.  Around 8 years laster, I had a sexual relationship for 1-1/2 years and everything was fine.  HOwever, with this new relationship this has now happened.  Could this part of my penis be more sensitive 10 years later b/c of this incident?

Could I have caused any damage to my penis with the Hyrdocotisone?  Why do I feel a sentive and burn feeling?

If I just leave it alone with no cream, will it go away by itself, or do I need another cream?  How long should I give it?

Any suggestions, help or advice wuold be appreciated, thanks.

It is unlikely that the hydrocortisone would have caused damage.  I would certainly evaluate for various causes of infection - which can cause an increased sensitivty as well as burning.  This can be done via a urine test to evaluate for STDs as well as other causes of infection.

If the symptoms continue, a cystoscopy can be considered to evaluate for things like a urethral stricture or polyp that can lead to the symptoms you describe.

If these avenues are not-revealing, another opinion by a dermatologist is reasonable.

These options can be discussed with your personal physician.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
