Spermatocelectomy post op

Spermatocelectomy post op

I had a Spermatocelectomy 6 days ago.  I have noticed where the large cyst was, which was on top and the back of the testicle is now hard to the touch.  I can feel the testical and it feels normal it is just the area where the swelling was before the operation.  Is this normal?  If so how long will this last.  It does not hurt when touched just hard on top and back of the testicle.

Known complications of spermatocelectomy include epididymal obstruction from inadvertent injury to the epididymis and potential infertility.  Additionally, bleeding and infection, which present typically as a scrotal hematoma or a wound infection, can occur.  Studies suggest that bleeding complication and infection rates following scrotal surgery of 17% and 10%, respectively.

If sclerotherapy was used (i.e. whether your urologist used sclerosing agents), patients can have a firmer scrotal wall as a result of the inflammatory reaction within the scrotum and the resultant fibrin deposition.

An ultrasound as well as an exam by your urologist can determine whether your complication is normal or not.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
