After surgery for prostate cancer, I’ve continue to develop and aggressive re-growth of scar tissue where the urethra was reattached to the bladder. My urologist has had to go in monthly for laser removal of scar tissue when it blocks urine flow. This has happened every 25 to 30 days. It gets to the point that we cannot insert a catheter. Last time, we experimented with botox injected into the area after the scar tissue was removed. I am also self-catheterizing once a day. It has been approx 30 days since the last surgery and I’m experiencing symptoms of blockage again – having to use more force to insert the catheter and decreased urine flow. I cannot find where anyone has experience such aggressive scar tissue growth nor can I find a permanent treatment. Can you please help me as I am experiencing severe depression as I see no hope of correcting this condition? It is interfering with my life and career.

Other than the placement of a stent, I am not aware of other treatments for the scar tissue, other than the laser removal or botox injections. You may want to obtain another urological opinion in a major academic medical center.
Another option would be placement of a suprapubic catheter - which is a permanent catheter placed via the abdomen. You may want to discuss this option with your personal physician.
