circumsicion or not

Hello!  I need help from people to decide to circumsice my penis or not.
I have been suffering from inflamation and irritation of my foreskin and glans for about a year and it gets worse in the summer. I get shiny red patches on my glans and inside my foreskin. I already visited many doctors and I've been prescribed all kind of medications and creams for fungus. but nothing seems to work. The last doctor I went said I have balanoposthitis no bacterial and he recomended me to have a circumsicion. I really do not want to cut my foreskin, but if is the only solution I will. Do you think I should do it ?  Will circumsicion really solve my problem? Will I regret to have it circumsiced? Have you have the same problem? I will appreciate your answers and suggestions. Thanks

Thanx for ur note.I didnt know there was different kinds of circumcission.I always thought you were either circumcissed or you werent circumcissed.I dont have any foreskin at all and the complete head of my penis, the ball bit at the tip,is bare now. Before I got circmsd that bit of my penis was sore to the touch and sensitive, but after I got circmsd I could touch it with no problems at all...my wife touches it to and its absolutely brilliant, much better than before. You should go for it as you'll love it.Before i got circmsd I would sometimes get trapped semen and hardened discharges under my foreskin.Im not an un hygienic man but sometimes we have fluid discharges without ejaculating...for example if we get sexually excited. You can be the cleanest man in the world and you would still get it no matter how much you wash.Being circmsd is great and your penis looks better too.Im not very well endowed and getting circmsd made me look bigger...it has that effect.Go for it...you'll love it.You'll be cleaner, your problems should clear up and woman prefer it...you look better with it too.Dont think for one minute getting circmsd is robbing you off your manhood. No chance, its just a piece of skin which makes you more vulnerable to penile problems.Get it done man.I wouldnt be saying these things to you if I thought you would regret getting circmsd...you'll be glad you done it and later in the year you'll be on this forun thanking everyone for advising you to do it.

You surgery may may be a little different as im in scotland but in the end it will be much the same. They put me to sleep to get it done(general anaesthetic) but some people get it done without that(local anaesthetic). They cut all the foreskin away and stitched me right round my whole penis at the part before the penis head. The stiches were dissolving stiches which completely dissolved through natural sweat and bathing. It took about 5 weeks for the stiches to completely dissolve. After I got circumcissed my penis was all big and swollen but im afraid to say the swelling went away after a few weeks.Immediately after the operation the nurses gave me morphine for the pain but to be honest with you they were using a sledgehammer to crack a nut as morphine is a potent painkiller and I certainly wasnt in severe pain but just felt a little sore.I was only in hospital one day and one night and after I went home I just took painkillers I bought out the pharmacy. It was only the first few weeks I had a problem when I went to bed.Like lots of men I would take an erection through the night when I was sleeping and it was painful for me when that happened.I went to my doctor and he prescribed a tranquiliser, diazepam, which dampened down my urges through the night and it didnt bother me as much.4 or 5 weeks later I felt and looked like a new man and put a big smile on my new brides face.Remember, this is MY experience.I have been reading what other people have being saying to you on this forum and they are entitled to their opinion like me.However, sometimes certain people see only the negative things in life and are only too eager to tell you some horror story they heard about a guys operation going wrong.Sure.They will be medical mishaps that happen sometimes but these are relatively rare and you are going into the doctors or hospital for a simple procedure which is performed in thousands of hospitals all over the world every day of the week. You will get it done and you will be happy with it.

you are correct in the foreskin getting very thin if you use steroid cremes.  The effect is cumulative.  When your foreskin starts cracking and tearing, it will be replaced by scar tissue which is less elastic and thus will make it harder to retract your foreskin and make sex more painful.  Contrary to what you were told, complications from circumcision are rare, not everyday occurrences.  There are ten times as many complications in uncircumcised males from Balanitis etc than any complication to circumcised males.  Balanitis is extremely rare in circumcised men and cancer of the penis is almost non existant in circumcised men.  I had no complications with my circumcision at the age of 59.  it was the best move that I made.  Much cleaner no smell or itch, no peeling, no more irritations.  Circlist has a lot of excellent information on what you seek, and yes you are right, there are different circumcision styles depending on the doctors technique or preference or you can find a doctor that will accommodate the style that you wish.

Thanks everyone for your comments and suggestions> At this point I don't know what to do. I'm 44 years old and I like the sensation of having a foreskin, but I have tried everything to cure this irritation that bothers me ( creams, all kind of medications, home remedies) but nothing seems to work. I take two showers daily and I clean my penis really good. I don't want to apply more creams because my skin was getting very thin, also I can not use soap because it will make it worse and the redness begins to itch. I'm sure I don't have an STD. I can retract my foreskin easy so I don't have a problem with that. I have one more appointment on june 8 with a new urologyst and after that I'm gonna have to make a decision. I'm not affraid of the pain of the surgery, but I'm affraid  of the results.I appreciate everyones comments.  I have questions for Jim 4760: What kind of circumsicion did you get (loose, tight, high)? Whre is the scar located? Is masturbation and sex very different than before your circumsicion? Penis looks same size?  Thanks very much

Hi, here is a link to the problems that one person had needing to get circumcised again.
You will have to sign up with a free membership. It would be worth doing so as this site provides other usefull information.

I forgot to mention that I also use a steroid cream.

With my current problem of the foreskin cracking, using the Bacitrim seems to be working.

For using the condom catheters, circumcision would almost be beneficial. With the foreskin being there, I have to ensure that the foreskin covers the glans before I rol the catheter on. At time is does get loose due to the movement and bunching up of the catheter. There is a newer catheter out that was designed for uncircumcised males, however my healthcare plan does not cover this type of catheter.

Take care.

Hi, ultimately this is something that you have to decide on by yourself.

Given the chance that something stll can go wrong after getting circumcised would be an indicator for me not to get circumcised. As I have stated no 2 circumcisions are the same in outcome.
For myself too, I know that I would miss my foreskin.
There was a person on this site who had been circumcised as a child. Later in his adult live he ended up with a cyst on the circuncision scar. To be sure that it was not something serious he went through yet another circumcision.

We are all born with a foreskin and I therefore believe that the foreskin has a purpose.

Once circumcised the skin on the glans becomes tough and therefore you loose some sensation in the penis glans.

If you have any doubs, you will most likely miss your foreskin. Once it's gone, there is nothing that you can do to get your foreskin back. There are some who have stretched the remaining skin to sort off have their foreskin back. Even with the stretched skin the nerve endings are gone.

Most of the once who go through with circumcision seem to have wanted to get circumcised.

One thing that you have to remember is to get down to the cause of your problems. You would not treat any medical condition before really know what the origin of the problem is. A s and example a doctor would not prescribe sleeping pills for you without understanding what caused your sleeping problems.

You are the final person who has to come to a decision regarding this matter. If I would have to choose, I would try anything to keep my foreskin.

All the best.

Ron

Ra1234,

I had the same problems as you.  Your doctor is right, Circumcision is the way to go.  I was circumcised last year at the age of 59 in a doctors office under local anesthesia.  It is extremely rare for circumcised men to get balanoposthisis.  I have minimal amount of pain and discomfort.  It is the best thing I ever did. NO regrets.  No loss in sensitivity.

You need to get some information.  there are two groups of over 2000 men circumcised as adults.  They helped me with some fine advice and information.

The Gilgal society maintains a list of doctors that specialize in circumcisions.

Hi,

A few years ago I had balanitis, the first thing that the doctor recommended was circumcision. I told her that I would not entertain that idea and was than prescribed bacitrim to put on the foreskin and glans. After about a week tings cleared up.

I have read that a man who had posted a message on this site, seemed to have ballanitis, even though he had been circumcised.

Getting rid of your foreskin does not allways mean that you won't have future problems with your penis..

Currently I have some cracking at the tip of my foreskin due to the use of condom catheters. I am using these catheters due to a problem with a fistula (hole) between my rectum and prostated. Even with that I will not consider circumcision. For myself I believe that my penis should be left in one piece and should not be damaged by circumcision.

The outcome of circumcision can have many different results. I can also leave you with more problems than what you started with.

I had a brother who was circumcised at the age of 6, The surgeon put some of the stitches on the edge of the glans. In short it looked like a mutilated penis.
I have also seen some foster kids who were circumcised and intact. All the circed boys had different outcomes and styles of crcumcison. One poor little 3 year old kid had a circumsion that made his penis look like a Frankenstein job.

If I were you, I would try anything else before resorting to circumcision.

All the best.

Ron
