post surgery problems

I'm a 50 year old male in good general health. On October 27, 2004 I had laser surgery for BPH. Now almost 3 months later, although my urine stream is much stronger and easier to start, I still have pain when urinating and intense urgency, as well as leaking during excersize or coughing. Also, for the past month, when I ejaculate I expel quite a bit of urine (about 1/2 cup). My doctor says to wait another month and see if it improves, but I can't find any information about these post op symptoms. Is this at all normal? Is it time for a 2nd opinion?
Thanks

I am not aware of that complication as well - but my experience in this area is limited since I am not a urologist.  I would check for the usual things like infection (a urinalysis as well as a digital rectal exam would be reasonable), but if the symptoms continue, a cystoscopy can be considered to evaluate for any further lower GU disease.

If the evaluation continues to be non-revealing, a 2nd urological opinion can never hurt.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
