proteinuria

proteinuria

i am a 27 yo female. i have bubbles in my urine which i found out could be due to high levels of protein in my urine.
i know this could be caused by an infection of the kidneys among others.
if i would have proteinuria or a kidney infection should i refrain from sex in that it could cause more problems?
my partner and myself are clean. we had test taken and are have no other partners but ourselves.
if we had sex, could he receive any complications such as an infection due to proteinuria or kidney infection?

thanks,
angela

It would depend on what the cause of the proteinuria is.  There are some infections that can lead to protein in the urine, and in these cases, you may want to be tested for transmissable diseases first.

Various kidney diseases can also lead to proteinuria - if that is the case, I am not aware of a connection between worsening of kidney disease and intercourse.

You may want to discuss this with your personal physician.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
