scrotal pain

scrotal pain

About 10 days ago I started to have lower abdominal pain as well as pain in the scrotum (esp. in my left testicle).  My internist checked me and said that I do not have a hernia, but instead I just have a strained abdominal muscle.  He gave me a prescription for Voltaren, which I have been taking for the last 10 days.

The testicular aching is not constant, and more prevalent later in the day.  It feels better when I apply heat to the area.  I do not feal any lumps or irregulaties in the testicles.

I do however have some discomfort in the left pelvic region, around my left hip area.

Also, I have had two prior cases of epididymitis which were both treated with antibiotics.  The pain this time does not hurt as much as those two prior cases, and also I have no swelling which I also had with the epididymitis.

Can a mere abdominal strain be causing this pain in my testicle area?  and if so, would it continue for this long after being on the anti-inflamatory?

Thanks.

Yes, an abdominal strain can be causing pain in the testicular area.  However, before coming to that conclusion, you may want to ensure there isn't anything more serious going on first.  The evaluation can include a scrotal ultrasound which can evaluate for masses within the scrotum.

I would also consider a urinalysis as well as a rectal exam to evaluate for prostatitis.  Infections can also lead to the symptoms as well.

You may want to discuss these options with your personal physician.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
