Okay I couldn't resist re-measuring myself. As of Jan. 5th I've lost 2.5 inches! Here's my new measurements:
Waist- 35"
Hip- 41"
Rt. Thigh- 22"
Lft. Thigh- 22.5"
Rt. Calf- 15.75"
Lft. Calf- 15.75"
Rt. Bicep- 12.5"
Lft. Bicep- 12"
Neck- 14"
Butt- 43"
Chest- 42"
Got To Do It- we're about the same weight. I'm at 188lbs and wanting to get down to 135 (I'm 5'3" so I need to be in the 125-135 category).
I blog so I took measurements when I first started this journey. I hope to re-measure soon because I know I've TONED even though I have not lost weight (in fact I seem to gain weight when I workout? Does this mean I need more water or something?).
Here are mine taken December 12, 2008:
Waist- 36 inches
Thigh- 22 inches
Bicep- 12 1/4 (though mine are muscular, not fatty)
Neck- 14 inches
Butt- 44 1/2 inches (all the way around my body)
Chest/Breasts- 42 inches
I'll re-measure soon. Looks like our measurements are pretty similar. You measured a lot more than I did. I didn't realize I should do each leg and arm or my calves. Oops!
Thanks for pointing this out. Even though my weight hasn't been moving much lately I know my inches are going down. All measured and putting in my tracker!
LOL! I am reminded of a somewhat funny little rhyme a physical therapist that I once knew used to say as she worked on the weights for "the girls":
We must....we must....we must increase the bust!
The bigger the better, the tighter the sweater......The boys are counting on us!
Sorry...silly I know, but she used to quack me up with that! LOL! Wonder where my darling friend is these days? ; )
Problem with the girls is that they are composed mostly of body fat. My only recommendation is to do some strength training in the pectoral area to firm them....sometimes the increase in muscle can make them appear bigger, but really they are just more toned muscularly.
my pics on my page on spark people if any1 uses that site also!! lol oh man u know what i forgot add i finally figured out where those lost inches are disappearing to and it aint my waist lol!! My "GIRLS" are shrinking!!! I need help lol this was hubbys fear and its happening!! Is there anything i can do? or take maybe?
My top will always be a size or 2 bigger than my bottom - makes wearing a dress a pain - though I did wear one Christmas day.. woohooo (will post a pic in a mo)
Inch loss is what makes me feel good... but lb loss is what makes me feel sucessfull.... weird teh boundaries and rules we impose on ourselves hey!
I have not been coutning inches, but it sounds like a good idea. I've been "stuck" for awhile, staying the same weight. I'm still proud to have kept off more than 40 lbs, and hope to be losing again soon.
Now I wish I'd measured inches at the start, I wonder what my total lost inches would be? I've only gone down a few sizes, but I think that is partially because plus sizes have greater spacing than regular sizes. I was a 3x or 26W top, and a 22W bottom. Now I'm a 2X or 20W top, and a (loose!) 18W bottom. (I have big shoulders and upper arms, which is why my top size is bigger. Maybe I'll come into better balance as I lose more?)
I'll need to raid my junk drawer at home, I'm pretty sure that's where the "old me" would store a tape measure!
TY!! lol man every1 that I ask tells me that!! Then they wanna know what im doing that im getting the lbs down! but yes every1 is different so hopefully i find a good video soon to start shrinking those inches!!
I usually find that my inches move much quicker than my pounds... we are all different which is why different weight loss plans work for different people.. the key is finding out what works best for you and remembering that because it is good for you does not mean it is the right way or the right plan for everyone else.
i take my measurements but truthfully they have not budged much at all!! I have lost lbs and see changes but not on the tape measure! I am going to look for some toning videos soon so i can get ready for summer!
Thanks for the advice and encouragement... you are soo right- took a sneaky look at your profiel all I can say is WOW - :) x
I keep track of my measurements too! It definitely is a good idea to do that for the weeks when the scale is stubborn and doesnt show your efforts. However for me, I measure myself once a month or so because I rarely see a change in the tape measure week to week. Just remember though, if you go through a period when your weight or measurements don't seem to change very much, that doesnt mean you arent making progress. Weight loss happens from the inside out, so you will be making a big difference in your body as well as your health even if the numbers don't always reflect it right away.
