What dosage of Topamax causes weightloss?

I just started Topamax.  I'm on 25mg/day and will increase by 25mg/week until I reach 100mg.  I heard the weightloss effect depends on the dose.  So, what dose did everyone here have their success?  And what type of diet/eating plan and exercise plan did you do to help it along?  I'm desperate to lose 40 lbs (half of which I gained on Zoloft-no longer taking).  PLEASE respond if you had any weightloss on this drug, I'm very curious.  THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!  :)

Weight loss is an off-label use of Topamax. I'm sure that it is prescribed for weight loss but that weight loss is not guaranteed. Just like the hair loss is not guaranteed.

It seems everybody is talking about the side effect of losing weight with this drug but it is also prescribed for obesity, because of that side effect. I'm currently on it for horrible migraines & lack of appitite is the only thing I have experienced. It is helping my migraines & this is the first drug that has helped me with them. I take 25mg in the morning & 50mg in the evening & it's working well. I just wanted people to know that this drug is prescribed for a number of things & 1 of them being obesity. For all of you that are just looking into the drug to maybe start to take in the future, yes it's great hearing people's stories on here but talk to your doctor too. If the both of u think this would benefit you in some way you could always try it & if the side effects are to much then u could always try something else. I'm immobile from 4 back surgeries in the last 3 years & I don't have the full use of my body back yet & have gained weight because of that so for me to lose a few pounds is great but my migraines being almost nonexistent is amazing!
