Sunday Weigh In

We've made it through another week and once again, it's time to "tell all".................lol

This is the post where you can let everyone know how you did last week.  Did you do extra well and lose exactly what you wanted to?  Have you been right on target with your diet/exercise program?

Or did something happen that caused you not to lose or maybe even gain?  Maybe you got sick or felt a little "down and out", cravings got you?  There are any number of other things that can cause us to gain unintentionally.  Happens to me all the time!!!

Anyway, for myself -- I am down 0.8 pounds, which is okay because I got caught earlier in the week with the "potato chip cravings" again, so after a couple of days, I had to really struggle not to give in.  There's a certain time of day (for about an hour and 1/2) that I have to stay incredibly busy or all I can think about is wanting chips.

Most of you know that I have to get up at 3:30 am to get ready for work.  I almost always have a light breakfast around 4:15 or so, which keeps me feeling good until around 7:00 - 7:15, then I'm hungry again.  I normally have a hard boiled egg, with some fruit and for a long time that satisfied me just fine until lunch at 11:30; however, a while back, I started getting really hungry about 7:00 and that's when the cravings kick in.

I've discovered that if I eat a larger meal and add some carbs, along with that boiled egg in the morning, I do much better; so I've continued with the boiled egg (not every day, but most), then I add a couple of slices of whole grain toast with butter and a slice of fat free cheese; maybe some fruit, yogurt, cereal, etc.

In addition to a bigger breakfast, I find that eating my largest meal of the day at lunch, rather than dinner works best for me.

Anyway, by Friday, I was actually down almost 2 pounds from last week, and I'm not sure what's going on, but this morning I woke up with a lot of fluid retention.  My rings, which normally slip off very easily, won't even budge now, my feet are swollen and so is my face.  In view of that, I'm good with only having lost 0.8 pound because I'm confident that when I manage to get rid of the fluid, I'll be right where I was before.  BTW - I no longer have "that time of the month" to contend with.

Okay -- now it's your turn.  Success or setback?  I refuse to call it a failure; you only fail if you stop trying.

Let's hear it................

well I've lost four of the five pounds I put on last week! Back at 155lb. Not celebrating as I can't see it as a loss, I'm just yo- yo-ing around - but thank goodness i didn't put any more on! Especially as I've been tucking into some food I should really avoid while I've been back at work - bit of sugar and white flour based food here and there to give me an energy boost to get through the day, gotta watch that and not get back into old, bad habits.

I do seem to be gaining energy week by week though. Next thing I will get back into some exercise.....when I'm ready.

well done all who lost this week and well done those who didn't aswell, for sticking with the process and posting anyway.

Barb I hope the fluid retention improves, I know that one, not much fun. It sounds like you're getting a good routine together there, front loading your dietary intake with such an early start certainly makes sense.

Elaine - Cadburys World! outrageous!!! I'm jealous! smile. You deserve a little treat, 2 years into your fantastic transformation, good for you.

welcome Back Trudie! Sounds like your holiday did you a world of good!

Tigerlil and Sasha - just sending you both a wave of solidarity. I'm off now to eat shepherds pie as I've been at work since 5am this morning! Sometimes we just gotta eat what we gotta eat.

Trudie, it's good to see you back and I do hope you had a wonderful vacation.  I know you needed one!!  I'm happy to see that you and your husband have made a mutual commitment to lose weight -- it's always easier if you can do it together.  Unfortunately, my husband has been unintentionally losing weight and I think I'm finding it......lol

I think I've mentioned that my daughter has lupus also.  She's currently on Lyrica as well and she's managed to maintain.  Hopefully, you will be okay with it.  Best of luck to you.

Sasha80 - have you thought about switching to whole grain pasta's?  Although they do have calories, they are less calories and being whole grain, are much better for you.  Whenever I eat pasta, I've switched completely to whole grain pasta and I seem not to gain the weight like I do with regular pasta.

Don't feel guilty though - if you enjoyed the pasta, that's what counts.

I am down .2 lbs.  We had more pasta this week than we usually do and of course, I overindulged.  Pasta is my favourite food.  Although I had a smaller portion of pasta and larger portion of salad, I found myself going for more pasta cause it was soooooo good.  My bad.

I figure any loss is a good loss.

Just got back from a vacation in the sun at an all inclusive resort so am sorry to report am up 2.4 lbs.  However, while away my husband and I talked about our mutual need to lose weight and get healthier.  It will be so much easier doing this with us working together.  I'm a little nervous that I just started the drug Lyrica yesterday and it is known for putting on weight.  Hopefully really watching what I eat and finding ways to be more active with my chronic pain (and if the Lyrica does its job I will have less pain so should be able to exercsie  more) that I can stay on top of this and lose 30 - 40 pounds.  I am recommitted!!!

Well Im down .6 Which is ok,
Unfortunatley  yesterday we went to cadbury chocolate world again, and more unfortunatley I was not as strong as i was on our first visit,
They give you a small cup of melted chocolate with biscuits or sweets in, and this time i could'nt resist the temptation, I did choose biscuits,  I am classing that as my treat as next thursday will be the end of my second year, i did not eat the other 4 bars of  free chocolate though,

Well done Barb
And Eiger lilly you have done a great job, keep it up

Sounds like your Chinese and donuts are doing about the same as my potato chips........lol

I'm happy you can get the weight off so easily though - I sure wish I could, but seems like thyroid and age are doing all they can to work against me.

Well was down to 123.6 earlier in the week but Chinese and doughnuts have landed me at 127.0 this morning. I'm drinking plenty of water and hopefully this will be off in the next couple of days.

I'm exercising and enjoying the park when I can. It has been chilly and rainy this week so I have been stuck in the basement more than outside. I know this will change soon and I can't wait!

Barb135 - I'm glad your down and congrats on defeating your potato chip cravings. I know how strong they can be.
