I have lost ~160 pounds...had bypass then had it reversed due to ulcers; broken bones, auto accident, other life occurrences kept me going on....first great grandchild, Kalysta, born on my 65th birthday, 2/19/09. I told her mom what (girl), hair/eye color (red/blue) and when--near my b'day,  Now granddaughter weighs MORE than me, I am at 188 from 350+, hate my excess skin, please young 'uns, do it early so your skin can "snap back". I am not as bad as Adam Sandler's character in the movie where he controlled stuff by his remote...forgot title,,,anyway..my shoulders are wide and have been blessed by lots of tears...I give help and share experiences when asked...I try not to be too pushy, you know what they say about recovering smokers, drinkers, etc....we tend to high horse it when we succeed....I am far from skinny/shapely..,but I tend to lighten the load when I can....Huggles,  Ellie  PS...I adore chocolate and homemade bread, and real butter...;>

Today at the Y, I *earned* a piece of chocolate.  Two weeks ago, they made each member put on a name tag when he or she arrived to work out.  TODAY, our instructor randomly asked someone (ME!) if he or she (I!) could name 8 people in our class of 14.  I named 9, so I got a piece of chocolate.

If my clothes shrink, ELAINE is going to the CORNER!!!!

Well .. I am so glad you filled me in on the "chocolate creep!" story ... LOLLL

Chocolate is MY FAVORITE and I do not keep it in the house .. except for Sugar Free Fudgesickles!!!! YUMMMMM and only 35 calories!!!  I do, however, from time to time, go get 1-2 pieces ONLY  (have learned to limit myself, eat slowly and SAVOR the flavor and experience) from a local chocolatier!  I just figure them in my calories .. no problem.

Can't get enough of you all . .and your humor.  Sure makes this a VERY ENJOYABLE EXPERIENCE!!!  Did you ever think about it .. our journey CAN BE FUN!!!!!

*gasp*  ME???  In the corner?  AGAIN?  Why WOULD you say THAT?

Barb in the corner - YES!  Elaine in the corner - BRAVO!  ME?  No, WAY!

Elaine has the notion in her pretty little head (if you caught her mood the other day) that chocolate makes your clothes shrink.  I say THAT makes her a chocolate creep!  That's MY story, and I'm sticking to it!

So I see how it is .. when the cat's away .. the mice will play .. LOLLLL

Ms Twehner .. I thought you were the drill sergeant .. ***hear whip cracking*** ,, or are you in the corner again???

Elaine .. you're doing fine on your calories.  If you're doing some pretty strenuous exercise, 1,200 is a bit low.  It takes me 1,300 to 1,400 calories with minimal exercise.  You can add some calories back for the exercise .. need to be sure you keep your strength up and don't go into starvation mode or lose too fast.  YOU are doing Amazingly well!!!!   The proof is in your Pics, your health, your trackers, your food diary AND the fact YOU CLIMBED A MOUNTAIN!!!  Does everyone know she and Steve climbed a MOUNTAIN!!!!  **GOLD STARS** for you and Steve!  ... and a ***PLATINUM STAR*** for keeping helping our friends be honest with their food diaries!!!

And Elaine, you can always bump up the calories with some extra protein or a complex carb.

Now Barb ... are you trying to earn the privilege of **going to the corner**???  Did I hear you say, "I've eaten too much today - maybe I'll skip the food tracker for today??  lol" ??????  ***My ears .. oh my ears!!! ... lol ...***

That said, Barb, I am PROUD of you for coming back and posting your food diary!  As for McDonald's .. we have to talk "girlfriend"!  I can eat at McDonald's and TOTALLY stay on plan!  Mornings .. get a side or two of eggs, or get a egg McMuffin and have them hold the cheese to save a few more calories.  For lunch or dinner ... side salad with balsamic vinaigrette dressing (can eat 2 for 90 calories) .. and order a separate piece of grilled chicken.  You can add to that a vanilla cone for 150 calories or a fruit and yogurt parfait.  Another option is the fruit and walnut salad.  So .. YOU CAN GO to McDonald's on the fly ... ;)

I will give you a little bit of sympathy .. because the scale CCAN fluctuate that much even if you don't eat that many calories.  However, in making positive choices, it will go back down as well .. and sometimes a few pounds at a time .. if they went on that way.  Hang in there kiddo .. you're a REAL FRIEND and we ALL LOVE YOU!!!

Trudie - You get a **PLATINUM STAR** as well .. in keeping Barb honest AND watching her!  I knew your eyesight was good .. ;)

Now .. as for the Passion Flakie .. hmmmm .. ok ... as long as you are honest about it.  So what is your plan for the future???  ***IDEA***  ***Hubby dear, thank you but would you please bring me ((favorite low calorie goodie)) so I can reach my goal???***  OR ***Cut in 4 pieces ... and eat 1 today and see if you want another piece the next day or if you make a different choice!***  Either way, you either get to enjoy it four times as much (less calories each day .. so add a little more exercise in) ORRRRRR ... you reach a day and say, "I really don't need that today, I think I will pass."  It is a behavior modification technique.  ;)

YOU ALL ARE SIMPLY FANTASTIC.  My Food Diary (keep calling it a journal) has truly helped me understand I am simply eating about 200 calories too much compared to my exercise level.  Before writing EVERYTHING down .. I thought I was eating slightly fewer calories.

I will be lowering my calories .. and MOVING!!!  Ms Drill Sergeant .. Where are YOU????

BTW - Sorry I wasn't on here earlier .. had a family matter that could not wait.  TRULY, TRULY ENJOYED this thread, your friendships and the fun we can have while also making some serious lifestyle changes .. YOU are INSPIRING!!!

OK, I'll give you a wee bit of sympathy if I can get some back for eating the Passion Flakie my husband bought for me tonight! Totally blew my day and I was doing very well.  How do you say no when your favourite is being placed right on your lap?  What a saboteur I am married to!

Oh - SO not fair......... Ranae, help......people ganging up on me...........lol

Well, fortunately, my better judgment took over BEFORE I came back here and I posted my lunch because I KNOW a food diary won't help me if I'm not honest - ugh....... was on a tight schedule and had to do it fast.  McDonald's won't be seeing ME again for a while..... Okay, so I can't complain tomorrow that I gained 4 pounds - well, yes I can because 4 pounds would be 14,000 calories and you can look at my food diary and see that I didn't eat THAT much....  But I can almost guarantee my scale will register at least that much......... Oh woe is me....  come on, you ARE my friends - how 'bout just a TINY bit of sympathy here?????????? Please??   lol

Gotta say - "you guys are REAL friends"......... Thanks. love you all...

On that note, I'm off to bed.........
