Two days ago, my sister woke up to a soaked bed. She was rushed to the ER and found that her membrane sac had ruptured and she lost all her amniotic fluid. An ultrasound last night showed that she is not building any back up. The babies heart is still strong and the baby has been active. She is only at 17 weeks so the baby would not survive if it is born now. The doctor told her that she can either wait for labor to begin or induce labor. What are the chances of the babies survival at this point? Is there anything the doctor's can do to help the babies lungs develop and prolong labor for 7-8 weeks? Please help! My sister is scared and doesn't know what to do.
