Vaginal Fissures

I wanted to start this forum up again since our other one got closed. We were all wondering what is causin our vaginal fissures or cuts. They are like paper cuts and are very painful. I have recently gotten a biopsy done and I don't get the results back til AUgust 1st. Just wanted to keep this going so we can all try and help eachother.

I am astounded to see how many people are suffering with these 'paper cuts' and that the Doctor's haven't a clue! I had my first outbreak of these tears when I was about 15.  I wasn't remotely sexually active at the time (although I'm sure the Doctor thought I was lying about that and too embarrassed to say so).  I'd never had a coldsore or anything like that in my life although to look at my labia, the Doctor diagnosed herpes.  When blood tests came back though, I tested negative for herpes.  A few years later at about 19, I thought I had a yeast infection and having been a tad too enthusiastic with itching...well GOOD GOD, was I in pain.  Again, Doctors diagnosed herpes and prescribed antibiotics for it.  I was off work for 2 weeks with the pain which was excrutiating.  Again though, blood tests came back as negative.  I was suspicious my boyfriend at the time had been behind my back and after being told face to face I have herpes so many times, you almost start to believe it.  I had a third test for herpes upon meeting my husband which came back as negative.  I'm sure it's not that as he is diabetic and has never had any symptoms which he sure would have with his low immune system.  I have had shingles 3 times and wonder if I have some sort of low immunity to a form of herpes? I'm not a Dr so don't know if this is possible.  These tears appear at any time although usually after sex, sometimes they are tiny other times, they don't so much as cause pain but irritate the hell out of me.  I thought today I had thrush but there's no discharge and sure enough after itching (it's hard not to) these cuts have appeared and I can't face work.  They make me so miserable.  I am pretty allergic to everything (cats, nuts, dust - have had asthma and eczema).  I am 24.  Also sometimes my clit feels as though it has a tiny pin in it? Although this is probably one of the tears, too small to see.  I can't bear to go back to the Doctor and have almost resgined myself to the fact that I am just going to have to suffer for the rest of my life! Canesten cream seems to sooth the area.

I wish I could edit!so instead I will post again..just to add more..she had all the problems most of y'all did..she would get a tear just by opening up,intercourse,or wiping...her skin was thin, and I think it was leading to more yeast infections..she also hasn't had one of them since she quit with bleach..thinking back more on the 1 time she had a problem..I believe it was the pad..because the irritation was in the shape of it..it was in contact with her for a long period of time, and I think the moisture from her body made her absorb something that irritated her(which I think was bleach)Lord only knows how you could make it wihtout using pads,or tampons, but if they have bleach in them, and that is what is causing you a problem, along with undies that you have bleached..I hope you can find away around it..

Ladies..my wife has had this issue since she was young. Before she ever had sex.It has gotten worse the older she has gotten, but I think I figured it out..She has had 6 ob-gyn fail to diagnose this, and I have made it my mission to cure her!!She has had test..showing positive for herpes, but this is the thing with herpes..most everyone has been exposed to HSV-1(cold sores etc),and it will  show up positive for herpes when they do tests, because it has been in your system..so don't freak out..it may not mean you have genital herpes, just have been exposed to HSV-1 since they share 50% of the same DNA it will just show you have herpes..

ok next..After alot of talking..trying everything we possibly could..changing soaps,detergents,everything..I think I finally found it,...BLEACH! she is allergic to bleach..,after realizing it broke her hands out,she mentioned to her mom that she may be allergic to it.. her mom said "it makes her sore down there" ..I know,awkward..lol,but that's how the conversation started between them..Well anyways,I told her to quit wearing white undies, and just go with colored ones..and it went from a weekly problem (13 years+) to it only happening one time in the last 2 months..she is finally not having dryness issues,tears,etc..she doesn't have periods since she got the IUD put in,and the one time she had a little problem in the last 2 months, she had used a pad,and she used cheap tp..again I think they may have had bleach used in the process when they were made, causing her a problem..so it was either one or the other, but I think it was the bleach here again as well..

It seems the irregular problem was caused by her having an allergic reaction to the bleach in her undies, and it was only the white undies that were causing the problem..Life is so much better now!She is finally getting frisky..she finally isn't hurting like before. This may not be the answer to you problem, but if you could quit using bleach or coming into contact with it..it may just help!

I've been experiencing this same problem.  I noticed I had a couple of cuts all around the inside of my lips on my vagina.  October 2010 I went to see my OBGYN & she told me I definitely didn't have a yeast infection.  She also said it was a bacterial infection.  She prescribed me antibiotics to take for seven days straight & also instructed me to use a water spray bottle to clean myself every time I use the restroom & pat dry.  After one week my cuts went away.  Come December 2010 this time I noticed they have reappeared, but I only have one on the side of my clitoris & around the anus.  I'm making an appointment as soon as I can. I'll keep you updated.

I was wondering about your "vaginal strep" possible diagnosis and what meds you had compounded to help balance your vaginal flora? I think your doctor was onto something. What ever became of it?

"still trying to figure it out"

Hi guys, I have this same issue with the papercuts and from reading everyone elses, I assume it is the birth control, although I have been on yasmin for 2 years non stop now and I had been on it before this too for a few months but I have only had these cuts in the past few months.  Lost are sayin on here that there must be something we all have in common and just dont know, well I thought maybe it could be the sanitary pads. I was reading recently about how they have chemicals in them and because the vagina is warm and moist it is more suseptible to absorbing these chemicals.  Maybe this is what is making the skin raw and be responsible for the tearing.   I did consider getting cotton re-usable ones but its seems like a lot of hassle especially if your on the go.  I might just try getting the ones that say for sensitive bladders, maybe they might have less chemicals in them!
Just a thought and maybe this might help, I'll come back with another other insights or updates I have.
