period after partial hysterectomy

I am 32 years old and had a partial hysterectomy 6 1/2 weeks ago.  This was after having problems with my period over the years, being married for 11 years and deciding we didn't want any more children, and the number one issue...a growth on my ovary that continued growing over 3 months. After pain for 6 months off and on and a trip to the emergency room, with pain so severe it made me double over, it was found on a CAT scan that I had a good size cyst that they thought burst.  When I went to my OBGYN and had a vaginal sonogram they found not a cyst that had burst but one that doubled in size from the 2 weeks prior trip to the emergency room.  My doctors suggestion was a laproscoptic surgery to remove the cyst and I asked about a hysterectomy and he agreed to do as I wished.  I had my utereus removed along with the cystic ovary and the fallapian tube on that side.  Upon my wish the doctor left the other ovary and tube and cervix.  I was informed by him later that because the cyst ended up being an endometrioma caused by endometriosis starting that I might later have the same trouble on the other ovary.  When my surgery was done it was 2 weeks til my next period.  I bleed very little and had just a little bit of pain afterward.  However I did have somewhat of a period.  When I went back for my 4 wk checkup the doctor asked me a lot of questions, one was if I had a period and I told him yes.  He then informed me that some women do have periods after a hysterectomy.  AFTER HAVING A 2ND PERIOD SINCE SURGERY I AM WONDERING IF THIS IS NORMAL OR NOT?????  Everyone says it isn't.

I had a supracervical hysterectomy a little over a year ago, due to an enlarged uterus, from benign fibroid tumors (only 3, but one was 9cm). I often question my decision and wish I would have had a myoectomy. Reading your story has comforted me MUCH more than anything else I have found. Thank You SO MUCH for sharing!

I would consider other options before surgery and if your only having this one problem it might be easier to address better without surgery

I am 27 and had a total hysterectomy 3 weeks ago (dr took my uterus, cervix, and tubes). Tonight I have been experiencing a lot of almost unbearable pain at times. Not sure how normal this is. Mostly in my lower stomach and pelvic area. I haven't felt this pain since when I first had the hysterectomy. I just hope it stops soon. Thanks for any good advise, I greatly appreciate it all...

My periods are sometimes very painful. Im looking forward to lighter or no periods. Just scared..getting put under has me so uneasy..waking up with tubes in me is even scarier. Im kinda thinking maybe I should hold off on this surgery until I cant take the pain anymore. Anyone have advice for me???

its been while since your post so unsure if u followed up with a partial at this time but I to have had continuous issues with vaginal thrush going back to 1986, started after I had my 1st of 4 children. I also am b-12 deficient. I give self injections 2 times a month.. I had a partial hysterectomy about 10 yrs. ago but it has had no impact on my thrush issue. also to other readers, I to have continued to have what seems to be regular monthly bleeding it just is not heavy, sometimes some clotting come thru, some months just have small amounts old brown dried blood discharge but its all been determined to be just my regular cycle' some dr. have said no was not normal others said yes it is normal. now after finding this sight n seeing so many others with this breakthrough bleeding, i feel much more relaxed n confident that it is normal
