yeast infection

I knew that I had a yeast infection so I went out and got monistat 3 so I started the monistat and I thought that I had caught it early so I started the monistat. on the 3rd day which was the last dose I started my period. It sais to use it even if you have your period so I did and it was a BIG mess. And the next day I had to use tampons becasue it wa just too much but that night I had to stop becasue the burning was so bad. And now its the 5th day they say it will take about 7 days to know if it works but usually I'm better by now. Should I ask my doctor for the one pill perscription for yeast infections? or should I wait it out even know I'm in so much pain due to my period being very heavy this month. On top of all that I have a cold with all this too. If any one has some advice I would be glad for your help. Thanks
