My daughter is freaking out

6 months ago my college daughter had sex, without a condom, with a guy who, she just found out, might have herpes.
She has been in a mental nightmare for the past 6 months thinking that she now has Herpes. Which is very possible.
even thought she has never had any symptoms. She went to my OBGYN  now her Doctor, and asked to be tested for stds ie: Herpes etc. because she was freaking out. During the exam she was told that all looked fine down there,  but no blood test was taken. I am sure that my doctor would be happy to do the blood test if asked. Will we get a difinitive positive or negative answer from a blood test ???????  My daughter has to know one way or the other. Either way......it is a very tough lesson to learn!!!

it was unprotected sex so actually she needs a full std screening. if she didn't have any blood taken yet then she certainly did not get tested for syphilis, hiv or herpes yet.

the risk from a one time unprotected encounter is very low. odds are that she didn't contract herpes from this partner.

has she been told by this guy that he has herpes or did she hear it through the grapevine?  Most young adults her age who have genital herpes have hsv1 genitally and not hsv2 which makes the odds of transmission even lower for her.

I am almost positive if she had herpes from contact 6 months ago, she would have already broken out a time or two.
