Tingling in both legs

I posted a question about my issue in neurology hoping it could be a pinched nerve but the dr kinda directed that a pinched nerve wouldnt be in both legs and described MS to me so i am extremely scared now...I have had both tingling in both my legs and feet, cold extremities that arent able to warm, feeling like im shivering on the inside, short term memory loss, and weakness in legs....i am really hoping that this could be anxiety or something but i just dont feel like it is....does this sound like MS to anyone? This has all happened within a two week span so im really scared please any comments would help :) and please pray for me not to have it :)

Hey!  Anything additional to add on this?  Im currently going through the exact same symptoms so any information you were able to find out would be greatly appreciated re: your diagnoses.  Thanks!

I join Shell in welcoming you.

It's WAY too soon to jump to an MS conclusion. I agree that the place to start is your primary doc for a thorough physical exam, complete bloodwork and any other tests as indicated. Tell him or her all your symptoms.

Not knowing anything about you including your age, I certainly don't know if these sorts of things are characteristic of you. If you in the past have reacted to stress with physical symptoms, then maybe that's what's happening now. Since it will take time to get to the bottom of this, I suggest you inventory yourself to see if this might indeed be anxiety. That would really be a relief, wouldn't it, because there's good help for that.

If you're not sure, then calm wait and see mode is the best route. Not so easy, right? But working yourself up now to a fever pitch will cause anxiety even if you didn't have it earlier. MS is no picnic, but it's not a death sentence by any means. Channel your worries by arming yourself with the facts. I suggest reading our Health Pages, available at the top right. Some of the entries won't be appropriate for you at this stage, but some will be spot on.

I know I've sounded kinda harsh here, and for that I apologize. I'm just trying to help you get your focus back.

Sending many good wishes,
ess

Welcome Friendlily,

You've been given great advice, so I'm adding on a welcome to you, and back up MissL and Figuera by saying MSers do share symptoms of other conditions and diseases. It is difficult to diagnose and no two MSers are alike. What you briefly mention does not scream MS to me - and I've not read your post on the other forum. If you posted what you did here, I'm surprised MS was alluded to.

Having said that - are you able to get to a regular MD for a physical, and check up? I hope we can help calm your fears, and help you out with some next step. Going to the doc when this is happening will help.

Thanks for joining us,
Shell

As you know we are not doctors here and can't give a dx but we can lend support and our opinions and stories.

MS is a difficult disease to diagnose and it can take years to get a deffinate diagnosis if you get one at all. There are many diseases out there that mimic MS and those have to be ruled out before a MS dx can be given.

Some get lucky and get a fast diagnosis while others wait 2 years or longer. I know that it can be frustrating and scary but just relax and let your doctor make the calls and order tests to rule out the others so that you can start getting somewhere with this.

I wish you the best of luck and really hope that your doctor takes an aggressive approach to this and you get answers sooner than later.

I am a newbie here too and still waiting for a dx so I am not sure how much help I can be but I know how scared you are!

One thing I have found is there are many things that share some of the same symptoms that MS has, but not be MS. Did your doctor have anything to say about your other symptoms such as the cold extremities or shivering? I know that I have one hand that is colder than the other and I was tested for a thyroid problem. It came back negative, but the thyroid I read can cause some of these symptoms. I am praying for you while you wait for an answer. Keep your updates posted OK?
