Hi, this is Becca911. My doctor got me off xanax 8 months ago. She put me in the hospital and gave me meds thru IV that took care of any withdraws, but  she did put me on a low dose of clonazepam and buspirone. Then the doctor put me on gabapentin because I was feeling withdraws from the xanax two weeks later. But I have be having trouble with giving up the lortabs. I am trying to taper, But I know that next month I have to have a hysterecomy because of a fibriod. So I am worried about the doctors giving me pain pills again and the cycle will start over. So, I wonder if I should just not worry about tapering the lortabs now. I need some advice. Thanks

The answer is no I not sure the Gabapentin is going to help much with the xanax. How much xanax were you on. Why did he not do a taper? Loratab an opiate is not effected by Gabapentin. How much are you taking and why. not for the heart surgery I hope as that was over 3 years ago. The only thing for opiates is a taper or a drug called suboxone for more info about suboxone go to www.naabt.org Good Luck-------------Noah
