Hormone trouble and hair loss

I am hypothroid but with serious side effects.  I have seen many doctors and no one has been able to level my hormones.  This I believe has led to my hair falling out in large amounts.
My T-4 level now is 7.47 and I am on levoxyl 100mcg.
I am at a loss now and need help.
Thank you

This discussion is related to Very Low T4 level, should I really be concerned.

i really feel for you i too have a similar problem i have an underactive thyroid and low iron levels both can be a cause but be careful as thyroxine and iron must not be taken together i know how depressing it is when i wash my hair and see large clumps in the bath being a women you feel like your the only one and i was too embaressed to tell anyone what i have found useful is a shampoo called alphrosyl its a medicated shampoo and can be got on prescription or over the counter  since using this i have noticed a difference when i stop lumps of hair come out.  but do use iron too just have in the evening away from your thyroxine

Hello, Doctor
Do you have any idea why many doctors, even a thyroid specialist can not get my hormone level under control.  Every blood test I have to change my levoxyl level.
I do feel many sysmptoms but most of all my hair is falling out.
It is very frustrating and sad to see my life change so rapidly.
Help please

What is the reference range for the t4?
A better test would be free t4.

Alopecia is an autoimmune disorder. ( I had it, but my hair grew back.) I also lost a lot of hair when hypo.

Have you had your ferritin level checked? It is the iron storage protein and dermatologists say if it is below 50, it can cause hair loss. (Mine is only 14.)
