Had MRI want it read NOW

Hi,

I have been in hiding for the last week I think fear, denial etc.... but busy also.

anyway I did my nerve test on my legs today and tonight had the MRI with and without contrast, they gave me the disk... now not sure that was a good thing 1564 photos and lots of white spots!

So now I want to know what it all means and Yesterday!!! I am an emotional basket case. I mean I can't imagine it being anything but MS but I am so confused. I still have my arms to do thurs and the sleep deprivation test friday then the 15th the Neuro should say something I am so afaind it will be another "I don't see anything!!!"

Yet I see so many white spots and my "flair" is so much better then last month..

well guess I am impaitent eh! i have waited 16 years and now tonight I expect an answer geez.... silly me.

Okay thanks for letting me vent.

PS- what the heck is this pain in my thigh (upper) drops down around the inside of my thigh? nerve pain stinks, the nurse named the nerve today sounds like "f" sound and it is nagging the heck out of me not horrid just new something, and when I asked her she said "oh it may be realated to fibro" see guess the fog is back as that was just a few hours ago and can't thing of the name of the nerve... anyone??
thanks

Mary

Hi,

Sorry about your frustration; totally understand.  I shouldn't be sitting here typing as I had my LP around 10 am today, but I feel OK and thought I'd pop in and say Hi.

My lateral femoral cutaneous nerve can actually be, um, disconnected, because it is superficial nerve.  It's an option if it keeps bugging me, but right now I have bigger fish to fry.

Your femoral nerve is a more important nerve, and I hope you find stretches that help.

I agree with the above poster.  Go and ask for a copy of the MRI report.  I was able to stop by and get a copy the next day.  My neuro called me 5 days later, but I already knew the results.

I also have tingling with the femoral nerve.  I have lower back problems and my tingling stems from that, not MS (I'm still un-Dx'd).  My physical therapist was able to reproduce my tingling and said it was related to L2-L3.

She has me doing a "femoral nerve stretch" that helps tremendously.  I suggest possible "googling" the nerve stretch and see if you can find pics.  It's very easy, but it is better to have someone help you with this stretch.  I only hold mine for 10 sec and stretch about 5 times per day.

HTH and good luck!!
Pat :)

OH ya that is the nerve!!! It sort of starts at the top of the inner thigh and I swear I could draw a line to where it leads! I can live with it I suppose but it's new and annoying!

I do have a lot of sciatic nerve pain in the other lower back/leg (left side) I always wrote that off to an injury a million years ago but that pain is so awful grateful it has not bothered me during this "flair" for lack of a better word. Have you found anything that helps your pain? is the femoral nerve a MS thing or a mimic do you know? sorry a bit anxious to say the least I just wanna know!! :-)

Funny you said you walked to get your results I am two blocks away also, and I alsked that they mail me a copy and marked for "medical' reasons not 'personal" I figure I have better chance of getting it that way so maybe tomorrow or sat!!

Thanks everyone I will let you know what I learn, off to get the arm nerve tests Wow whoa!

I'm here, too, waiting with you.  I live a couple of blocks from the hospital where my brain MRI was done, so I walked over to get the report.

I found out later that my PCP had asked them not to give me the report, because she doesn't like people to find out stuff like that on a weekend.  Luckily, I picked it up on Saturday, and the people working hadn't gotten that message.  I don't panic; I'd rather know than wait!

I had looked at my MRI and kind of figured it out by comparing it to images I found online, searching for the source of my tremors, so I wasn't surprised at what I read in the report.  Then I found all of you.  That's the best of all of this.

Was it a femoral nerve?  I have lateral femoral cutaneous nerve pain which is more on the front of my thigh. Nerve pain is rotten. I also have the sciatic pain on the same leg, so the pain runs down the back of my leg and the outside of my thigh.  Basically, my right thigh fairly glows.  Sheesh.

Take care,

Kathy

I would do what "SL" says and call and see when the report will be ready.  It usually has a turn around of about 24-48hours.  When it comes to extremely important MRI's, I certainly wouldn't want to rush the reading radiologist.  Don't want him making any mistakes....

I know how hard it is to wait.  It's sheer torture.  Is your heart slamming away and nervous as you know what?  That's the way I get.  I asked for a CD after both my brain and spinal MRI's and knew enough after 13 years of an MS dfagnosis, to know if there were lesions where there previously were none.  So the radiologists report came as no surprise.  Just explained everything in detail, so I knew exactly what was going on.

We will wait with you...I promise!

Big Hugs,
Heather

Hi Marez,

I know you are anxious, I would be too - 16 yrs - whew!  Think the worse thing you can do though is try to interpret those pics.  I don't blame you though for trying to look at them, etc.  I would do the exact thing.  I'm glad they never gave me my pics on CD.

What you can do though is call the facility you got the MRI's at and ask them when the reports will be ready.  You can then go pick them up, maybe they will ready by the end of the week.

Hang in there, we're waiting here w/ya!
