Thyroid recently detected please help

Hi I am 25 and have 19.5 TSH level and my doc said it is a mild condition and has given me meds for three months. He says that this is curable and not a major proble, hoever as i read on about this condition on the net, i have come to understand that mild or borderline has twice the chances of a heart desease. I am very worried now, I thought it was a common thing and nothig much to worroy about but now I am very very tensed.
I have always been on the heavier side since birth, my family has no thyriod history I do identify some symptoms like swollen ankle after a long activity filled day n lost enery level not  like before thought all this was only because of my weight.
How can I control weight are there dietry restrictions because my doc did not inform me of any. I have always been on the heavier side hence could not figure out however i am my heavest now though i do constant yoga and jogging.

Some body please help me.... thank you

You will be fine as long as you get the proper amount of medication and take it reliably.

Make sure you get retested and get the TSH to 0.5-2.0. That is What The American Thyroid Association recommends. (Though I realize you are not in the US)

You will likely need further medication increases.

A TSH level of 19.5 would be way over the upper limit, and indicative of hypothyroidism, and would be a major concern to me.  You also seem to have some of the symptoms of hypo t.   What kind of meds are you taking?
