You will be fine as long as you get the proper amount of medication and take it reliably.
Make sure you get retested and get the TSH to 0.5-2.0. That is What The American Thyroid Association recommends. (Though I realize you are not in the US)
You will likely need further medication increases.
Grace, my tsh was 18.5 and my doctor was very concerned. i was put on 50synthroid for two weeks, then I started 100synthroid. I was told I will be taking this medicine for the rest of my life. As far as weight issues, I am learning until your thyroid gets to the right or normal level, your metabolism is not working so you can't loose weight. G
Hi thanx for the response... m very worried now.. i am taking thyroxine sodium tablets (thyronoum) 50mcg. I have been in India for a year now previously I was in melbourne... the normal range in the hospitals here has it as 0.34 - 5.6.. please advise
A TSH level of 19.5 would be way over the upper limit, and indicative of hypothyroidism, and would be a major concern to me. You also seem to have some of the symptoms of hypo t. What kind of meds are you taking?
