I have a cold spot

I have a cold spot on my right side of my thyroid gland. It is hard and painful around the hard mass in my throat. The Doctor told me it was a nodule inside my thyroid galand and it is a big one.  I feel like something is in my throat when I eat and it hurts when I cough all the way up the right side of my neck to my right ear. My trachea hurts where the lump is pressing on it too. I cannot even get in to see the endocronologist for over two months for my first exam. I need some advice and information so I can be aware of what is happening to me and my options.

Thankyou for your reply. I don't know what my calcium level is. The doctor made a first appointment with me in mid October. That is the first available appointment. I am concerned about the pain radiating up my neck to my ear from this cold spot and I have a large hard lump in my throat from it. It hurts to cough too. They ordered a ultrasound and more blood work before I finally meet this doctor.

Have your doctor order a Sestamibi scan of your thyroid to see if it is a parathyroid tumor. If it is, have it removed. Is your blood calcium level high?

If nodule is larger then 1 cm it must be evaluated with FNAB [biopsy];
the ultrasound is helpfule to determine if nodule has well defined borders or increased blood flow a well as location and other specific features.
