Why some times and not others?

Well I get those rotten egg burps all the time!! But I think I am lactose intolerant but some times I didn’t eat or drink any milk products and I get burps that smell like sulfur and I get diarrhea the next day ALWAYS.
Are they caused by the same things?
And I ate 3 deviled eggs on thanksgiving and nothing happened? But other times I have one bite of egg and I'm sick for 2 days?
I just don't get it.  Please help if you know anything. I'm in pain and embarrassed.

Shawna,

I have had you EXACT symptoms for the past 4-5 months. I have been so miserable! After putting up with those nasty"egg burps", vomitting, and diarrhea for long enough, i finally went to my doc. He ordered alot of bloodwork and an abdominal ultrasound. Well, to make a long story short, my bloodwork showed I have a bacteria in my stomach called H.pylori. You can get it from contaminated food or water. (gross) It is mostly treatable with antibiotics but alot of the times this bacteria will cause you to develope stomach ulcers!!

Definatley go see your doc and get some tests. I still am waiting for my appointment with the GI specialist.

Hope this helps!!

Shawna,

This may or may not be helpful, but avoid Calcium Propionate.  My wife went through the EXACT same feelings (physically + emotionally).  The GI doctor was unhelpful and passed it off as being lactose intolerance.  After the problem wouldn't stop with simply avoiding lactose, we turned to the internet.  Turns out a preservative called CALCIUM PROPIONATE has been causing some nasty problems in people.  The FDA will not recognize that this is causing them, but if my wife consumes anything with calcium propionate in it she will be burping/vomiting/diarrhea.  As long as she avoids this she's fine.  The foods that usually contain CP are mass-produced breads/bagels/bakery.  Any of the "made fresh today" breads/bagels/bakery are usually good-to-go, but we started doing some of our shopping at the Whole Foods Market since they sell certified ORGANICs.  We have become strong opponents to the use of CP...the only people CP helps are the big factories that use it so they don't need to wash their equipment as often.  Good luck and let us know if this works for you!
